Obviously the guy was just a complete waste on offense - he never had a fucking clue about how to approach an at bat. Still though, he was a terrific defender out of a crucial defensive position. You could do a lot worse.

Cespedes has a 5y 90m offer from the Orioles and the Mets are apparently involved with a 1 year offer. This is ripe for the Sox to swoop in and give Cespedes that AAV he wants but only for 3 years.

Does it bother you that the White Sox won't go past 3 years? If 3 years is the max for Cespedes, who would the White Sox offer more than 3 years to? And especially that the White Sox could find themselves in a 'window to win' over the next 2-3 years.

I think the Sox feel snakebitten after the Laroche deal. Which for the record, has to be one of the dumbest in baseball history.

This is baseball money and the Sox are dumb already for not signing him(Cespedes) to that 5 year $100mil deal. It is not my money and the Sox have to sign an exciting player to put butts in them empty seats.

It bothers me because Trayce, Micah and Montas are gone for two years of Todd Frazier, a move which put the Sox "one move away" from being about even with the Royals and ahead of the Tribe. Now it appears there will be no next move and I'm wondering why the Sox traded away 3 top 10 prospects if they are still going to start Melky Cabrera and Avisail Garcia at the corner OF spots, LaRoche at DH and Saladino at 2nd. 4/9 of the lineup is still wasted space, with only Saladino having even the potential to be better than horrible defensively.

Yeah..it didn't make much sense to trade away those guys for Frasier unless they added a big bat. I think they should have traded Sale, if you can that big haul for Shelby Miller then Sale would have brought back twice that in return.

The White Sox offseason has done nothing to change the reality they are still the worst team in the AL central. Too many outs in the starting lineup, mediocre bullpen, poor defense, and no starting pitching depth.

This isn't correct. The AL Central is wide open, and the Sox could compete for the division with a Cespedes signing.

I should not be the one that needs to defend the White Sox to White Sox fans. And I'm not being optimistic...I have no feelings when analyzing the White Sox.

Eaton's first half 2015 BABIP was way under his career norms...way under most players norms. And yet with that, he still was a .700 OPS guy in the first half. If that is the worst he is going to give you...you're good in CF. Eaton had a very good 2015, and a very good 2014. Sox seem to be comfortable in CF.

LaRoche sucks, but he isn't needed to be a huge part of the team.

The catcher position was heavily upgraded. Maybe you still think it is 'meh'...and that is fine...but teams identify a position of need and try to upgrade it in the offseason. Hahn did that.

Melky Cabrera is Melky Cabrera. Offensively, you know what you're going to get and it is above average.

Avisail is a question mark...but that is why I believe the Sox should sign Cespedes. In that ballpark...Cespedes would be a force.

Sale, Quintana, Rodon, Danks, Johnson - you could do much worse. Cleveland has a much better staff...but I don't believe the Sox are worse than any other rotation. And the Sox will have one of the better offenses (with Cespedes) and MUCH better than Cleveland's offense.

Lawrie is an upgrade (which is funny to say but true in this case), Abreu is very good, and Frazier is solid (and stays in a hitter friendly environment)

Sox will get another outfielder of some sort. That will push Avi to DH and Laroche to the bench.

KC is still better overall. They have the best bullpen, best defense, and will score enough. Tigers have best lineup, pitching will be better as Zimmerman is the most underrated fa signing. Cleveland 1 to 5 has the deepest rotation.

So in about 30 minutes you go from saying the Sox are the worst team in the AL Central, to saying that Detroit has a better lineup, Cleveland has a better rotation, the defending World Series champions are better overall, and you don't even mention the Twins.

Good stuff. And I thought baseball talk couldn't get worse around here.

Avi bottomed out though. He either stays this bad and washes out of baseball or gets better.
