First, you have a meaningless all-star game... so meaningless that you are having a 3-3 format because who gives a shit.

Then, you let fans vote in the players for this completely meaningless, boring, on the verge of un-watchable game.

Then, the fans vote in John Scott.

So, you pressure John Scott to not attend this meaningless game because it apparently makes a mockery of something. I'm not sure what, but something.

Then, John says no.

So, you force the team that you own to trade John Scott to the other conference so that he can't play in this meaningless, boring ass, stupid, complete waste of time that is the NHL All Star game.

http://deadspin.com/john-scott-gets-screwed-out-of-his-all-star-spot-1753273867

John Scott was previously asked by both NHL and Arizona Coyotes to bow out of NHL All-Star Game. He refused. Trade likely takes care of that

God, this league...

Instead of just rolling with it, letting everyone have their chuckle over it, let John Scott have his 15 minutes, and then let the whole situation be forgotten about by March, the league shits all over themselves and makes a big scandal out of it that will be talked about for ...well, maybe a couple of more months.

Still, to go to the extremes that they did just to try to save face, and not thinking that it will backfire further...dumb, dumb, dumb. At least Scott gets to go to a real franchise, even if he ends up in the A.

The idea of allowing fans to vote on the All Star squads (much like Baseball) is fine........as long as fans are responsible with this. The problem is idiots that come up with a campaign like this one, to promote a player who is clearly undeserving. It has happened in the shows on TV where people are given the power to help judge singers and decide who advances in those competitions as well. the fault lies with the individuals that corrupt the process, not those who try to allow fans to participate legitimately in the selection.

Orchestrating the trade is pretty fucking pathetic.

It is, but the league still owns the Coyotes by way of having loaned the pretend owners all their money, so I guess they can do that. It's crappy, but so is the outcry from HFBoards and r/hockey people whining that they didn't successfully prank a major business. All this bitching about how he "won the fan vote fair and square" is like claiming that your free speech is being infringed upon because you didn't get to name the class hamster "Boobs" in 3rd grade.

Thank you.

Nomination seconded so far as the idiot fans are added to it as well.

For the record, my 3rd grade classroom did successfully name our class gerbils "Beavis and Butt-Head." It was the '90s, and if you think about it, rodents do sound a little like Beavis.

I was going to post some gif indicating assent and/or agreement, but then I got heavily distracted by the fact you were in 3rd grade in the 90s and my brain did a hard reset.

the chumps over at committed indian are probably reminding themselves that if everyone were real fans like them, this would never have happened.

I'll just keep this going. Fuck you for suspending a player for a real game just because he is sick and missing a MEANINGLESS FUCKING EXHIBITION GAME!

Didn't this happen to Crosby a year or 2 ago? On the one hand you don't want it to turn into the probowl but if somebody is legit injured or whatever they shouldn't have to play. It is stupid.

If Toews is shitting himself this badly, he needs more than the whole week off. He's had zero points in his last five games, the Hawks aren't going to miss anything from him next Tuesday but his grimacing.

So with Gustafsson, Anisimov, and Sekac, this makes four Blackhawks who will have missed games with the shits (though you could argue Toews has been missing games for days but dressing for them anyway).

Third grade class of '72 here.

You know, I was looking at Facebook last night and one of my old girlfriends posted about the Challenger crash and how she was in third grade when it happened. That would make her about 38, right? I had no idea she was that much younger than I am.
