Which parts were weak? I'm genuinely curious.

I think I was most disappointed in the limited dialog for Hardy...overall, the plot and dialog weren't compelling to me.

i think 312 forgot he was watching an action movie, or doesn't have the mental capacity to understand what a good action movie is.

because this was a great one.

not to mention that george miller can still pull this off at his age. the stunts were phenomenal and there were so many practical special effects it was like watching a *real* film. the plot is thin, the characters serve a single purpose, but that's the idea. it's a road warrior movie, literally, and it absolutely delivers on that.

(ahem :D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D )

i'm still surprised this was nominated for best picture, but i'm more disappointed that this was nominated but "creed" wasn't.

this year was a weird one for me. my top 5 favorite films would have been this, "creed", "krampus", "jurassic world" and "the martian". but i think that says more to me not visiting the movies that much...i missed out on a lot. still trying to find time for "straight outta compton".

i'm gonna try to see "the revenant", "the big short" and "spotlight" in the next few weeks too.

I think you are confused or Perhaps YOU don't have the mental capacity to recognize a good action film when you see one..I can recommend some if you like.

That wasn't a joke, you called that piece of shit " great" .. A great action movie is Braveheart or Diehard.

It's okay not to like good movies and it's okay to like bad ones. You happen to hate a good one, don't double down on your stupidity by acting like you're some sort of movie savant for thinking a movie nominated for best picture and best director sucks. Just admit you totally missed the mark on a movie with 98% positive reviews and move on. This is a terrible hill to choose to die on.

Look back to page 1... I was excited about it, I'm a huge Hardy fan, loved the original Mad Max lovies.. This one just was weak.. I couldn't care less about awards or nominations... I could look at every year for the last 30 years n those dumbfucks didn't get the best movies right... Look @ Roger Ebert's reviews on Great movies like Usual Suspects... I'm no savant but neither are they..its just an opinion.

i've definitely gone against the grain many times but action films are probably the easiest to identify as great or not. like the ones 312 mentioned, "braveheart" (which is really more an epic drama than just an action film), and "die hard" (totally an action film) are also great. but they aren't exactly the same kind of subgenre as "mad max". "Mad max" movies are post apocalyptic road movies. they're not meant to have big plots or a lot of dialog. they're like living breathing comic book movies. it's a stunt show.

Ugh. What a weak comparison. Cinema legends like Willis and Gibson against Tom Hardy????

That is so laughable.

Let yourself take a lap on this one 312 player. Clearly you did not see the new Mad Max in the theatre. Otherwise you would of told us how you snuck in popcorn for your girl/punching bag instead of paying for it.

Cool, it can join Avatar or Titanic, Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman and 100 other films that sucked but were very popular...

Popular doesn't equal quality, see Mikey Cyrus or Reality TV or Justin Bieber or hundreds of awful films that were well received by the masses but sucked fat dick.

I didn't say anything about the films popularity. That's 98% from actual critics, not actual idiots.

I don't differentiate between you, me, wz or gene siskel..its just someone's opinion man..I don't feel Rich Roeper has mastered anything sitting in a chair for 2 hours watching a film that you or I havent. Take the movie Crash for example.. Critically acclaimed and it really sucked.

Willis n Gibson are good actors with a huge body of work, some good, some bad with a couple great roles in there but neither are as good as an actor as Hardy.

I watched it at home on the small screen.

I'm guessing it isn't nearly as good there because I was severely underwhelmed. Either that or it was overhyped to the point of being unrealistic in expectations.

As a story, it was one of the dumber stories I've seen. These types of movies aren't designed for stories though.

I give it to two W_Z's out of four W_Z's.

I like Hardy but his take on Max wasn't good. I'm not saying you have to be Mel but at least keep it consistent with the character's previously established traits and personality.

They didn't let him speak, how would he do that?
