See, so here's the thing with Gurnee...we are like the tourist-y area for all the Great Lakes families...no one in their right mind stays in North Chicago or Waukegan, so the Grand Avenue corridor is easily close to as busy as the Woodfield area on the weekend.

It is indeed the last sign of humanity until you get to the Kenosha area...which is then the last island of humanity until Milwaukee.

To be fair, everything up the Tri-State from the Kennedy -> Gurnee is fairly populated, and not at all isolated...Dolphin is right, IMU is incorrect, as usual. I mean, fuck, Gurnee is literally right next to fucking Libertyville.

My last batch 3 weeks ago was top notch. Making it a little spicier each time. Also a little more bean heavy. And while I've been keeping it thick, I might try to go for a bit more sauce next time.

The northern suburbs end at 137. Anything north of that is hinterland.

Probably also not a fan of a good mole sauce.

I would say the northern suburbs end at Lake Forest to the north and Libertyville-ish to the west. Anything north/west of that is either a suburb of Waukegan or Rockford.

I'm a fan of mole poblano. Unsweetened cacao is quite different than fucking Hershey bars.

When you make fajitas, do you just throw some black pepper in there and say.... "well, it called for sliced bell peppers...but this has pepper in the name so it probably works."

Yes.

 Always funny to me how the Chicago crowd is so ready to disown the far northern burbs and treat it like they're in Wisconsin.

I've never gone to Six Flags and thought "I'm still in the burbs."

What's next...is Dekalb going to claim being a Chicago suburb? Kankakee?

I've always kind of thought that if your economy is contingent on your proximity to the city, you are the suburbs. If it's not, you're a small town.

This thread is the first time I've ever heard someone say Gurnee ISNT a suburb. Of course it is.

I can probably get to Milwaukee quicker from Gurnee than Chicago.

Probably. Milwaukee isn't that far away.

So Gurnee isn't a suburb of Chicago.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurnee,_Illinois

Quote:
Gurnee is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Its population was 31,295 at the 2010 census.[1] It borders the city of Waukegan and is considered a part of the Chicago metropolitan area.

Quote:
Gurnee is notable as being one of the only major Chicago suburbs that is not serviced by Metra, although there are nearby stations in Waukegan, Grayslake, and Libertyville.

You and IMU are not correct.

Wikipedia as a source! Excellent.

We'll just ignore the 'article last edited by FavreFan on January 18th, 2016' at the bottom.

Find a more credible source saying it's NOT a suburb. Until then, I win. 8)

The Metra connection should be the defining factor. Gurnee doesn't have one. Its not a suburb.
