It's simple:
Noah claimed to play for the fans in the 300 level.
The DB is adamantly not a 300 level fan.
Therefore Noah didn't play for DB and he can't/won't appreciate Noah's play.

Not sure where the hate is on this one...Noah was decent, nowhere near great...and shouldn't be treated as an all time great Bull...just a pretty good, fan favorite type...Wasn't that all Bernsie was saying?

"Bernsie" is a dick and disingenuous, so his critique of Noah is both suspect due to the source, and just wrong on objective grounds. The guy finished in the top five of MVP voting once and won DPOY, so to describe him as "decent" is just way off.

Noah was good. He was very good at times.

He also may be one of the most over loved Chicago athletes ever.

Definitely a Bulls HOF'er at least.

Overloved? Explain that one.

IMO he went from a player that a lot of people hated when drafted to a player that people really loved and respected.

I know I hated the pick on draft night, but after watching him I grew to really like him.

using past Bernsie arguments as a guide, he was likely exaggerating the 'tributes' to Noah as something far beyond that. You, know 'I see people on twitter saying Noah...' type of stuff.

I think he did the same with Deng. It's either a strawman, or a 'you know that thing you like? it actually is bad' deal. Shoutout to me for not listening, but therefore all I have is that guess.

Sort of a tallest midget award there...yet he still doesn't deserve his number retired or anything close.

Who's doing that? The biggest argument on this board ever involving Noah compared to past players was Luc Longley.

Noah earned a lot of respect from Bulls' fans. The guy brought it every night and played heavy minutes even with bum body parts. But Bernsie loves to piss on people's parades. God forbid we actually enjoy watching players hustle and show emotion. Noah turned into an excellent passer and always played solid D. If enjoyment was only for fans of teams that win championships, then lots of sports fans wouldn't enjoy watching since only one team wins per year.

I get the impression that most put him much higher than Luc Longley though.

He'd probably fall into the Horace Grant level for me.

He's easily the best center the franchise has had in a couple generations. Not a HOF'er, but a very good player. Not deserving of a statue, nor a jersey retirement, just a very good player that was easy to root for.

It may be time to have a discussion about where he does rank though.

And by a discussion, I mean two pages of discussion and then long time guy comes in and talks about Carmelo Anthony.

I think DB nailed it exactly. Perfect summary.

Rick, is your argument that the "love" of a guy should be directly proportional to how good they are?

This. Plus he was a large part of the most fun era of Bulls basketball since Jordan (when Rose was healthy). Always seemed like a great dude who was really good to fans. Hard not to like him.
