Saw today for second time, this time in IMAX 3D. Outstanding, particularly the sound. The 3D was not overdone and the brightness didn't seem to be as subdued as it usually is with 3D.

Not great like Episode IV and V, not miserable like I, II and III. Better than VI. Good movie, excited for more.

Does anyone even care about a movie whose star actors are all 70 years old? Shouldn't the title be "Grumpy Old Star Wars"?

I think I'll pass after Anthony Daniels (C3PO) said the script sucks. And they made the most bad-ass stormtrooper be a woman? C'mon.

Harrison Ford hasn't made a good movie since the Fugitive in '93. Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill haven't been in anything since Return of the Jedi, other than Hamill voicing the Joker in the Batman cartoons.

My feeling is Hollywood is done creating decent films anymore. All the comic book movies are a joke. And all the good directors like Spielberg, Scott and Coppola are over the hill and irrelevant now, though I did like Scott's "Exodus: Gods and Kings" despite the miscasting of Sigourney Weaver and John Turturro. I kept waiting for Turturro to say, "Nobody fucks with the Jesus!".

Fastest movie to hit the $1 Bill mark in one week.

Looks like it is on a terrible path.

She is nowhere near this.

Rey looks like an above-average Irish chick who is not fat and who had the benefit of braces.

that's the kind that makes me melt

I haven't seen the movie yet and have no idea who she is

The issue, however, is whether "The Force Awakens" even deserves to be considered as a movie, because it's not. It's the anchoring element of a vast commercial program, painstakingly factory-made for maximal audience appeal, which means maximal inoffensiveness. The result tells us a lot about the state of entertainment today, and about the future of Hollywood.

COLD BlOODED

Im not a big Star Wars guy but it does seem like they were very SAFE and just remade Episode 4.

People are overloving it because it's being compared to the prequels. (a la Rocky Balboa being compared to Rocky V)

Disney stock (DIS) is now down $14 since Star Wars opened, wiping out about $15 billion in Market Cap.

Yeah, I'd call that a bomb. It didn't meet all the hype, and the stock has gotten punished.

I think DIS has more to worry about with ESPN than it does with Star Wars.

The release date for SW8 has been moved from summer 2017 to December 2017. It will now be going up against Avatar 2, which should be interesting.

"avatar" seems to have gone through a lot of negativity since it came out in 2009. i wonder how much it'll affect the sequel's box office. i really don't know where cameron wanted to go with this story since it was very hokey and derivative to begin with. the 3D was breathtaking but the familiar story was watery at best. at least "star wars" had great characters and a stronger plot to string along the trilogy.

I feel like those movies will share 95% of the same audience.

It wasn't meant to be seen in your living room.
