He might have a position on the Cubs soon.

And Theo is leading the charge. Tanking for 3 years isn't enough, now he needs the rules changed.

It doesn't matter. He'll be improved defensively.

You really are a stupid person. Do you try hard to be this way or is it just flowing from your being?

He still cannot hit lefties.

Cubs should've moved Schwarber at peak value this offseason but he's one of their more marketable players. He appeals strongly to the Elmhurst Steve base.

He will hit lefties after he adjusts to MLB pitching. He has played in the majors for six months. I would trade him ASAP. Stupid troll.

Actually, if I were GM and I received an offer for a top of the rotation starter in exchange for Schwarber, I would make the deal. He is an incomplete player AT THIS POINT. I believe he will be a decent LF. Not great, but average. As a catcher, I have a hard time believing he will ever be even average, but I hope I am wrong about that. He appeals strongly to Theo. Theo values his bat perhaps even more than Rizzo or Bryant. Schwarber has great power and I believe he will hit 40 or more homers in several seasons, but if I could get a guy like Sale for him and Baez.....deal. But I don't believe Theo will deal Schwarber anytime soon.

Oh crap, he Still can't hit lefties.
Theo might as well cut and run because that never changes.

If Theo was all about paying for future performances his 1-2-3 wouldn't all be over 30. And he wouldn't be carrying a DH on an NL roster.

The Shot Heard 'Round the 847 in the NLDS is already one of the more overrated moments in Chicago sports history.

That could be the high point of his (Cubs) career.

That could be the high point of Theo's tenure as GM. Or under Ricketts ownership. Who knows how long the kid who never had to work a day in his life can keep the Cubs afloat?

Yeah the idiot kid and his siblings paid 845 million for the team in 2009 and by best estimates he has driven it into the ground and it's only worth 1.8 billion....I am sure your portfolio shows far superior growth ...maybe you can share some investment tips for us poor schlubs

Nobody said anything about driving it into the ground.

Just like you didn't say anything about winning.

The 2015 NLDS was the high point of the Theo era the way Pickett's Charge was the high point of the Confederacy.

I am so glad that you remain in denial where the Cub's era of sustained excellence is concerned. You could have chosen to back off and acknowledge their exceptional young talent and their outstanding chances to win multiple pennants and World Series titles over the next 5-8 years. But having you suffer as this happens, because you have maintained a stance of denial is much preferred.

Try winning a division before you start raising pennants and planning parades.

Cub fans never learn. I understand the younger guys, but someone your age should understand your role: Loser. Wait 'til next year.

Well, they won their division as recently as 2008, when they had the best record in the N.L. in the regular season. But winning the regular season is not always all that important, as we have seen many wild card teams go on to win the World Series. Hell, the Cardinals were just 83-78 in 2006. there were several teams that were better. But the Cardinals got hot at the right time and got great pitching performances from guys like Carpenter and Wainwright. But with the outstanding players the Cub's have already at the major league level and guys like Glyber Torres, Billy McKinney, Albert Almora and Wilson Contreras on the way, the future is bright. Plus, with new revenue streams opening in the coming years and costs for reconstruction coming to an end, there will be a lot of money available to address any needs that might arise. So though having a great team does not guarantee titles, having an outstanding team year after year, will surely give them multiple shots at a crown. I would say 2 titles in the next 6 years is reasonable.

While that might describe the White Sox, the Cubs are about as likable a team as there is. Fun, talented and good natured, with a Manager that also is very likable. Having won 97 games, beat the Pirates in the Wild Card, beat the Cardinals in the NLDS and then improved the team.....it no longer carries such a distasteful moniker.

Your reasoning throughout the entire paragraph completely contradicts your last sentence.

Not at all. If championships were based on talent alone, I would have said 3-4 titles in the next 6 years. But I dialed it back, in accounting for unforeseen circumstances....luck, injuries, etc.

When the Cubs win 2 or more in the next 6 years, I MAY accept you apology for that post. then again, it's more likely I will say "I told you so, dumbass" long before an apology is offered.
