I've seen the trailer prior to three movies in the past couple of months and it comes out tomorrow so I am pretty sure I'll knock this one off the
list by the end of the weekend. Looks pretty intense, especially that bear scene. The cinematography looks just beautiful. Not the biggest
Leo fan but I have grown an appreciation for his film choices and acting over the years. He is supposed to be outstanding in this one.

Going at 3pm today. Read a little bit about the true story it is based on. Pretty interesting.

One burning question about this movie:

Does the bear that rapes him wear a new head of hair?

Saw this Friday after work. Cinematography was stunning and the emotions and physical acting that DiCaprio had to do were
very impressive. He doesn't have a lot of lines in the movie per se, a lot of grunting and painful motions as he is attacked by
a bear early on in the movie. I read up on the true story before seeing the movie and it very loosely follows the true tale
for the first part and then it meanders off on its own, so if you read the true account you aren't going to be ruining the movie
for yourself. Very surprised to not see Tom Hardy up for any supporting awards last night at the Peoples Choice. I thought his
performance was just a notch below DiCaprio. The movie is very intense during many scenes and it had me pretty tensed
up at points. I looked around and saw many people literally on the edge of their seats taking it all in. Visually stunning movie
to watch on the big screen in my opinion. Overall the story is a little weak and not a lot of great dialogue but an enjoyable
watch.

Has anyone else bothered to see this movie? It's probably not for everyone but thought there would be a couple people here at least.

I thought trailer looked awesome when I went to Star Wars. Just not enough to get my ass to a theater in this busy time I guess.

Glad to see Tom Hardy nominated for supporting actor. He deserves it for this role.

this is a pretty intense experience, but i agree the length was a bit much. i thought the story with the missing native american woman was kind of thin, and even though there was a payoff it just seem to tack on extra time that wasn't that necessary. you could remove it and still have a strong film. the performances are all strong, and i think dicaprio will finally get his oscar.

the bear attack was rough, but knowing what happened to timothy treadwell, it seems like that bear would've just ripped his head off instead of gnawing at his back. i know this is based on a real event but the bear attack may have been different in reality.

i can also safely say i have now seen everything when i say i've seen a movie with a guy taking shelter inside a horse (that isn't about elmhurst steve).

i loved the way the film was shot. i think that was the strongest thing going for it. the symbolism was kind of predictable and shallow, but the brutality and realism of the dire situations these people were in was certainly well done.

Sounds like the dialogue written for Arnold back in the day, and for leading actors in Michael Bay movies nowadays.

What really happened ( not really a spoiler, different from movie ).....

Near the forks of the Grand River, near present-day Shadehill Reservoir, Perkins County, South Dakota, while scouting for game for the expedition larder, Glass surprised and disturbed a grizzly bear with two cubs. The bear charged, picked him up, bit and lacerated his flesh, severely wounding him, and body slammed him to the ground. Glass managed to kill the bear with help from his trapping partners, Thomas Fitzpatrick and Jim Bridger, but was left badly mauled and unconscious.

Despite his injuries, Glass regained consciousness, but found himself abandoned, without weapons or equipment. He had festering wounds, a broken leg, and deep cuts on his back that exposed his bare ribs. Glass lay mutilated and alone, more than 200 miles (320 km) from the nearest American settlement, at Fort Kiowa, on the Missouri River. Glass set the bone of his own leg, wrapped himself in the bear hide his companions had placed over him as a shroud, and began crawling back to Fort Kiowa. To prevent gangrene, Glass allowed maggots to eat the dead, infected flesh in his wounds.

Glass crawled overland south toward the Cheyenne River, using Thunder Butte as a navigational tool, where he fashioned a crude raft and floated downstream to Fort Kiowa. The journey took him six weeks. He survived mostly on wild berries and roots; on one occasion he was able to drive two wolves from a downed bison calf, and feast on the raw meat. Glass was aided by friendly Native Americans who sewed a bear hide to his back to cover the exposed wounds and provided him with food and weapons.
