As a Cub fan, Schwarber certainly shocked pretty much all of baseball last year with his bat, but the league also seemed to be catching up with him by the end of the regular season before he went off in the post season.

Now typically, he is being anointed as a bona fide stud but is he more likely to become a .240 BA guy who struggles big time against lefties? Yes if he gets 400 AB's, he should be a cinch for 25 HR's but don't be surprised if he is not the 2nd coming of Big Papi.

Hope I'm wrong...

mediocre troll effort, nice topic idea but still a little too obvious with your intentions, 4/10

I think he'll be like Matt Stairs. Good hitter.

The concern should be if he loses some power while lightening up to play outfield.

I think Theo was wrong not to trade him. He is worth much more to other teams than he is to the Cubs.

Reminds me of Kevin Mitchell, I'd trade him for pitching in a heartbeat.

Not a bad comp.

As long as he puts like 2 or 3 balls on the top of the scoreboard I don't think it matters what else he does.

In a world where Jorge Soler had a great rookie season, Schwarber can do no wrong.

We are talking Schwarber here. This has a Brett Jackson vibe to it.

Barry Rozner would be proud of this never ending comedy bit.

Come on. We can mock the Cubs when they do something stupid. We'd do the same thing for the White Sox.

I'm looking at him now and he was a lot better than I remembered. A lot of big numbers in that era.

It's not such a great comp after all. No way do I believe Schwarber is going to finish his career with a 142 OPS+. Stairs is a better comp.

He also beat the shit out of Daryl Strawberry over a basketball game once

No WAY Schwarber does that

He has more power than Stairs but that is a good comp.

I think Theo wanted to trade him but word from Kenney/Ricketts put a stop to that idea. White, B1G, a #memorable playoff momemt... he's too marketable to get rid of. They sell a Schwarber jersey every 5 minutes in Schaumburg, Crystal Lake, Iowa and other rural areas where the Cubs are so popular.

That and nobody is giving up a really good pitcher for Schwarber.

285 hitter with power that can walk, kinda a liability in the field.. I liked Mitchell, I like Schwarber but I'd trade him immediately for Quintana.

Quintana for Schwarber would certainly be interesting for both teams.

And it would never happen as the Cubs would have to give up a LOT more than a DH to get a good, young, cost controlled lefty SP.

The best young hitter I saw come up for the Cubs was Dwight Smith. He faded rather quickly after an outstanding rookie season. I hope Schwarber can continue to improve.
