This hockey season must be so trying for McClure and the CI cretins. They've been apparently forced to watch things that make them so angry. Whereas before, it was just comfortable, constant bitching.

They've gone from a must read to maybe every other week if i happen to remember...they've have joined DiCaro on the SJW platform where every single game, cheer, player has to be a reflection of society as a whole. They clearly are miserable and their writing reflects that.

I can't imagine people still willing to pay for that trash pamphlet at games.

This. I imagine people should just ignore them and let them go belly up. I really never heard any people off the board mention them anymore.

The thing that I don't understand just skimming a few of their articles is they seem to have a genuine disdain for the sport of hockey itself, not just the NHL, Blackhawks, and/or Patrick Kane.

The Blue Line was the fans' program during a very dark time in the franchise's history. It gave voice to fans' frustrations and made fun of the buffoons destroying their favorite team.

When Sam took over and changed the name to TCI, things changed quickly with the organization...the dark future turned bright...championships came...the Hawks became the best run organization in the NHL. It became more and more difficult to find fault with team...second guessing Bowman has mostly been a losing proposition...the original business model of TBL/TCI needed to be revamped.

McClure was apparently given most of the control of the blog. With the Kane story, McClure has gone completely off his rocker...Did he always have such thin skin? Thus we have had comments turned off for a while now...even though they were never very offensive to begin with. Their online presence is killing their print publication...who'dathunk that?

Probably just taking his cues from a girlfriend/fiancee who in turn takes her cues from the internet third-waver hivemind. As with Julie, Baffoe, Rathunde, and the rest, all these people seem to have very few insights of their own and all attack in the same way. With that in mind, I was really surprised and pleased that McClure spoke out against the John Scott campaign, given that this whole thing has a been a pet cause of Ryan Lambert, whom they've really seemed to emulate as of late (dunno why, he blows). In calling out "so-called internet hockey progressives" as he did, I can't tell whether he betrayed his in-group or just out-puritied them. Probably the latter.

stinkfinger rolled with the punches as much as anyone here. He was fun and funny. Fels is a born and bred Boers disciple. He has all of Boers' cynicism with a small percentage of the knowledge and none of the comedic relief. He was a Score listener and caller as a little kid which makes him pretty much an uncool version of Goff.

They both use Dan's comedy bits so much as to owe royalties (which they pay in the form of telling him what to think about hockey).

the sjw stuff started when they were at sbn. they started warning/banning people for using sedin sisters. when they initially started at sbn it was a laid back free-for-all.

does anyone know why they left sbn? i stopped reading them at tail end of sbn.

I think they saw more money in striking out on their own, plus SBNation was moving to homogenize their team blogs.

He never bothered me when he was here, but he seems like a different guy. He used to talk about strip clubs now he's checking his privilege and ordering people to "educate themselves".

It seems like it is a way to try and seem like a "smarter sports fan" when it is pretty much pointless.

My wife is a bigger hockey fan than me. I don't think she ever cared about the ice girls or the shoot the puck thing. Somehow though Stinkfinger and Dan Bernstein do and I should care?

The League officials screwed the pooch on the John Scott situation. They could have laughed it off from the start..."Those crazy fans! That's what can happen sometimes..." With their clumsy back room machinations, they ended up turning Scott from a nobody goon into a sympathetic character who fans wanted to cheer.

Was it a huge deal either way? Not even close. The subsequent rant by McClure was absolutely ridiculous. Did John Scott kicked sand in his face at the beach when he was a kid? Of course McClure used it as another opportunity to remind any readers he has left that Kaner is a horrible person.

Quote:

I reread http://www.theplayerstribune.com/a-guy-like-me/, was that what he claims is a profanity laced screed? WTF?!

This just in...professional athletes, super models, movie stars, fill in the __________...ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!!!!!

McClure seems to form his opinions pretty early on and then can never waiver from them...no matter what. He's a birther when it comes to Kane and the 3on3 OT for a couple of examples...no matter what evidence is presented to the contrary, he just digs in his heels and insists he's still right.

I think he remembers how awful John Scott was as a Blackhawk. Remember going from the dazzling run-and-gun 2010 team to the plodding plugs of 2011, and how much that sucked? John Scott was a part of that.

It's the NHL All-Star game! They're playing 3 on 3! It's really not that serious. I didn't follow it from the beginning, but CH seems to be suggesting that the "Vote Scott" campaign was an attempt to embarrass the NHL for wait little goonery remains. I think others probably just thought it would be funny to see arguably the worst NHL player as a captain in the All-Star game. I'm guessing there won't be fan voting next year.

Yes, that's what it was framed as, plus the fact that progressive hockey fans don't believe there should be an All-Star Game at all. Combined, the idea was the embarrass the league for having the game and for not purging every last goon (purging 95% of them in the last ten years is insufficient).

My issue was with the petulance that these fans showed after the NHL started flailing. It was basically "You can't stop us from making you look stupid! You have to let us make you look stupid on your own terms." They were shocked that the league disagreed.

Anyone who has been following hockey for more than 15 seconds knows and understands that the NHL needs zero help to make themselves look stupid. Hell, they just signed their knuckle headed Commissioner for like another decade.

And this isn't the first time fan voting has been used to try and hijack the NHL's wishes and intentions. John Scott's "goonery" has virtually nothing to do with this. It's just a move by the league's fan base to make the idiots running the league look stupid. Again.

Who are these progressive fans that are trying to embarrass the league because they still have goons and play an ASG? I think that's way over thinking this. I agree with JORR...the fans were able to make a funny...the league kind of panik'd but all turned out just fine. Chicken salad was actually made from chicken shit.

McClure just used it as another opportunity to bash a few of his pet peeves: Goons, Kaner, 3on3...with a few other shots for good measure. Not sure how it came to this...but he has become one bitter, cowardly douchebag.
