What kind of ratings did the 1908 World Series get?

Now we will wait for INQIUISITOR or Arlington Hts Archwood to tell us that they are the worst because the TV rating for the '05 World Series suck.

Worst ratings means no one cares about the White Sox. Not really breaking news.

That is not true. There are plenty of Cubs fans that seem to care quite a bit about the White Sox.

Yup. Gotta be at least 80%. The Dr. Kens and Peoria Matts are few and far between in Cub fandom.

Here ya go Frankie..... they are NOT the 3rd best ever... not even in the Top 10... maybe around 12th or so.... you know baseball so surely you have heard of say the 27 Yanks 110-44 .714 reg season and 4-0 1.000 perfect post season..that's your starting point...I am sure you can up with 10 more if you just look a little.

Even if you add the Sox 99-63 with the ALMOST perfect 11-1 post season that is only 110 wins and 64 losses even you can do that math but here I'll help you .... 64 -44 =20 ..the Yanks won as many games and lost 20 fewer.

The White Sox swept the World Series too. You can not say any of those teams were better in the postseason because the White Sox matched their exact output.

Now, the 7-0 Reds have a case. It really depends on how heavily you weight a sweep in the Division Series. I'd still put the Reds ahead of the Sox because they swept the last two series whereas the Sox had a loss. However, given the fact that a certain team put a ball in plexiglass like it was a museum piece because it won a Division Series, I think we may need to put a lot of weight into winning that first series.

Either way, the Sox are at worst tied for second in terms of dominant post season runs. I think Frank and I can live with that.

You are the one trying to knock them, maybe you should look a little. As it is, you are throwing shit around hoping it will stick. Even with doing that, you have just said the '05 White Sox are among the best 10% of professional baseball teams ever. I'm cool with that.

Since LCS play began, the 2005 White Sox are at worst the 3rd best team behind the '76 Reds and '98 Yankees. If anything, given the four consecutive complete games in the playoffs, you could give a slight edge to the Sox over the Yankees.

Don't worry though, Inquisie. The 2015 Cubs have two things that can never be taken away from them. The 2015 Attendance Championship, and they were without question the best 3rd Place team in the history of MLB.

Similar to attendance at a Cub game, there were no African Americans in the league and therefore they must be asterisked.

I think THE INQUISITOR is the most 2005 obsessed fan in the world.

You know the moment that the Cubs win the World Series his first thought will be "Yeah, but 2005".

Fixed, because the only way the Cubs win a World Series is in a dream or a video game.

This was Frankie's exact quote.....

Frank Coztansa wrote:

So my question is define EVER ...I thought it meant always, of all time...again no mention of ever since MLB added and then expanded the post season.

What does World Series mean? I do not see a mention of since 1995 or do you just just ignore all the World Series from 1903 -1993.

even Frank and Brick admit that other teams in the expanded format may have been better....

All I did was give you a team that most baseball fans acknowledge as the best ever and I can add about 10 more that not only swept the World Series but also had a better regular season record then the ...get ready for this ...... 2005 White Sox.

If you want to say the 2005 White Sox are the 3rd best team since the 1995 post season expansion I'd agree 100% but if you insist that they are the 3rd best World Series team EVER I would disagree.

It is NOT a 2015 Cubs v 2005 Sox thing... the Sox won and Flags Fly Forever.... this is more about the myopic (look that word up Frank) view of the subdivision in regards to the Sox place in MLB history.

The 1976 Reds may have been. No other team has been.

So, second best ever, maybe.

2005 White Sox had probably the most dominant pitching performance in a postseason series ever in the ALCS against the Angels. Relievers pitched 2/3 of an inning the entire series for the Sox. That has never happened before and will never happen again.

Then they went on the fuck the Astros in 4 games.

The Sox did the Red Sox, Angels and Astros pretty much the same way the Mets did the Cubs. It wasn't close, they outclassed everyone.

I think we are seeing a break through with your therapy.

2005 is not your enemy. It is your friend. It gives you a measuring stick for your team so that you are never satisfied with management just "competing".

We are talking about postseason teams.

Thanks for trying though.

11-1.

Got it.

so it is not EVER the caveat is since 1995

1999 Yankees 11-1

so there ya have it the 2005 White Sox are one of the TOP 2 post season teams since 1995.

Thanks for clarifying.

so we went from EVER to since 1995 to since 1969

using 1969 as the starting point

69 Mets 100 wins 7-1 beat 109 win Orioles in WS
70 Orioles 108 wins 7-1 best 102 win Reds
76 Reds 102 wins 7-0 beat 97 win Yankees
84 Tigers 104 wins 7-1 beat 92 win Padres
89 A's 99 wins beat 8-1 beat 92 win Giants
99 Yankees 98 wins 11-1 beat 103 win Braves
05 White Sox 99 wins 11-1 beat 89 win Astros

so in the Top 7 since 1969 nothing wrong with that... and one of the 17 best post season teams EVER.
as a point of EVER reference the 17th best HR hitter of all time is Mickey Mantle, Robin Yount in hits, Dave Winfield RBI, Gaylord Perry Wins and Jim Bunning K's all historic and so are the 2005 White Sox.

Probably the same guy who told me that 11-1 is better then 4-0

I know when I went to school 1.000 > .917 but you know it's the new math.

Sometimes 1-11 is better than 4-0. It all depends on the WHIP and ERA.
