I'm not as up to date on the CTE/Early onset Dementia literature as others, but is the Jim McMahon spinal treatment a well known/researched thing? I mean it sounds legit but I'm not one of the Really. Smart. People. who do research on this issue.

At the very least it was interesting to see how some of the guys have aged. Jimbo Covert looks good sans perm. The random Todd Bell/Al Harris footage was a bit amateurish though.

Yea, enough is enough.

The whole thing had nothing we haven't seen before. 90% of the content was already covered in the 85 Bears: America's Game. I turned it off with a half an hour left.
Remember this in 20 years when there is a documentary about the Blackhawks. You know, the team nobody cares about until the Conference finals start.

At least we'll have more than one fucking year to work with.

If only Kris Versteeg were a better rapper.

Despite my griping during mid-January games, I'd rather have the sustained dominance of the Blackhawks than a one-year wonder like the Bears. For one thing, I wasn't even alive for the '85 Bears. All I've been alive and aware for has been missing the playoffs four out of every five years while everyone talks about how great the '85 Bears were. The saddest thing about this neverending worship of the time the Bears won the Super Bowl thirtysome years ago is that the Redskins and Raiders won three Super Bowls thirtysome years ago and their fans/media aren't one-third as annoying about it as ours. The Bears are pathetic.

Maybe he is. Who cares.

It was a good documentary about one of the single best Pro sports seasons of all time. If you didn't enjoy it, that's on you.

Some of the hockey 'fans' in this town are pathetic.

That's the point. It's not that I didn't enjoy it, it's that I didn't watch it in the first place because I need to consume more '85 Bears media like I need a hole in the head.

You are the pathetic one.

The 85 Bears were not a one year wonder. They were one of the best teams in the league for the last half of the 80s. Now they did not ever win the Superbowl again. But to call them a one year wonder is just wrong.

The Blackhawks success has been amazing but the reality is that it will never match what the Bears did in 85. That is just reality.

Stop bitching and go watch a Toews highlight film.

I don't know how anyone can say that the 80's Bears weren't an overall disappointment. If they were one of the "best" of all time, they should have more than one ring.

I don't think it has to be one or the other.

As a whole for that decade they were a disappointment. They should have won more Superbowls.

But for one season they were the greatest team to ever play.

Different time. I don't think very many people think that Dolphin team was the greatest of all time. I don't think they are even the greatest team of that decade.

The 85 Bears would demolish them.

A different time? They were 13 years before the Bears. If thats the case, then the 85 Bears would get destroyed today.

 Yes, 13 years is a different time.

If they play with 1985 rules, Bears beat 90% of NFL team by 20 points. If its with today's rules, they probably win at best 50% of the time.

THe level of play from the early 70s to the 80s was completely different.

Several teams from the 80s would demolish the 72 dolphins.

The 85 Bears would get demolished by some teams today but it is more because of the different rules and style of play. Half their team would be ejected by the end of the 1st quarter.

I love the Bears as much as the next guy but that 30 for 30 felt completely unnecessary to me. I didn't say it was bad, but if some of you want to act like bitches about it, go for it.

And lol @ the cheapshot at Hawks fandom from a guy who is a White Sox fan. I could talk about how no one cares about the Sox like 90% of the Cubs fans on this board but that's not really my style.

I think it was almost over at that point. It was a great special. It would have been interesting to get Ryan's sons in there for a different perspective on those Bears.

Yeah same here, that was some bullshit. Still pretty great though. McMahon was a cool motherfucker.

Oh my god... you are stupid. The point is that the '72 Dolphins were 13 years before the Bears, and the '85 Bears were 30 years ago. Do you need someone to do the math for you?

I didn't think the 30 for 30 was as good as everybody said, it was just okay. Most of the stuff has already been addressed, I was hoping for something new. Listeneing to the producer on W&S on Thursday was better.

It was a great team and great time. I always wished I was a little older when it happened.

I don't write it, so try another joke. Maybe one that's new or actually funny this time.

Yup. Don't care about stats. Anyone who would take Cutler over McMahon is a moron.
