Fine with separate seating for women in Saudi. That is "local custom" after all.

Its horrible (but probably not uncommon in retail) to read the stories of how Starbucks treats their employees. That said, Starbucks is still a status symbol in corporate America. The office building I'm in has a Dunkin Donuts and a Starbucks in the basement. All the suits are in Starbucks while Dunkin Donuts has more casually dressed employees. You NEVER see a non-Starbucks coffee in a meeting with management and above. NEVER.

I avoid Starbucks at all costs, unless I'm completely desperate. The MOST overrated place in the world.

Nah, those are always like 10 pages after a day. We have our priorities in order here.

I would be curious to hear a story as my son works for them and he feels he's been treated rather well. They're flexible and accommodating with the schedule, he gets discounts on items, and keeps his fridge full with their food items. My only complaint was that he didn't me a bag of Joe for Christmas.

I worked there in college when they first came to town. I recall the oldsters complaining they would keep hours just below the threshold for insurance.

This was the article that I came across and saw a few similar posts. As I said, I think this a retail-wide issue, not just Starbucks.
