Deadwood could have been a top 5 show.

Assuming that The Wire is on Netflix, I will check it out.

Yep. Lester is the best TV Cop ever.

You'll like Major Rawls. I can see you and him having some things in common.

These days about the only bars I frequent are in hotels.

In the same sense Mark "the Bird" Fidrych could've been one of the top 5 pitchers of all time.

One season of greatness does not make you eligible for any sort of greatest of all time lists.

First two seasons were great. Third season was alright but obviously wasn't meant to be a series ender.

I thought 1st season was great. 2nd season was ok. 3rd season was an unmitigated disaster.

Deadwood was okay but never felt right to me. I just didn't buy the language, whether it was the cursing or the flowing word use that comprised certain characters' mini-sermons.

I like season 2 of The Wire. I know that whole union mentality and culture from growing up around it. Ziggy is one of the best ever Wire characters. Not that I like him, just that he is so real. There's so many absolute zeros like him out there in this world. They are the rank and file of existence. The shit talkers, tragic idiots, fake tough guys, and consummate fuckups.

Season 2 of Deadwood dragged a little with that storyline of Shane and his sister-in-law/Skyler from BB. I understand the reason for the silence and all, but come the fuck on. It was like watching that movie with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck wandering around in the desert.

Season 2 of The Wire was one of my favorites, too.
Loved Frank Sobotka, and Ziggy was was great too.

Speaking of The Wire, has anyone seen Luther or The Affair yet?
Luther has Idris elba as a cop, and The affair has McNulty.
I have Showtime, so I'll have to see if it's on demand, and luther is on Netflix.
Just wondering if either are any good.

I watched the first season of Luther and quickly got bored. It's like a better Law and Order: CI.

If you're looking for a show to watch, Luther would be the way to go. Idris Elba is fantastic in it. Ruth Wilson (who is in The Affair) is in Luther as well.

Ok, that's fair.
I'm also interested in Happy Valley and Top Of The Lake.

Currently watching Gracepoint, and I didn't see the BBC original version, but it's not blowing me over.
I'll stick with it, because there's only like 5 or 6 more episodes.

Chicago P.D. is probably my favorite Big-4 network dramas right now.
The girl cops are both smoking hot, and Voight reminds me of Vic Mackey from the Shield.

you know, FF, if you want to discredit shakes' thoughts on TV shows, he thinks "big bang theory" is the best thing on the air.

Best thing on air? no.

Best 30 minute network sitcom? Definitely. In fact, its the only one I'll watch besides Parks and Rec and even that's starting to get tedious. Glad that one is ending this season.

Luther is very solid crime drama.

Broadchurch is better than Gracepoint. It's a slow burn but the payoff is top notch from a performance standpoint. IMO.

i'm still plodding through "gracepoint" but it's very dull...david tennant needs his british accent, whether it's his native scottish or the english one. it seems like he's putting all his effort into making sure he sounds american. the story is still intriguing enough though.

Hmmm you didn't buy the language and that was supposed to be one of the more authentic things in the show. It was likely the prose that was off putting

Season 2 of the wire was awesome. In real time I think it was a tough adjustment because at that moment we weren't used to such huge shifts in a series, now a days it would be nothing but back then it was kind of odd. Second view wow that season was amazing.

I had never watched Breaking Bad but heard a lot of hype regarding the end. At the time of the finale, I had a roommate and had come home with him in the middle of the finale. I sat and watched maybe the last 15 min of the finale. None of it made much sense to me, but he was certainly captivated with it and had remarked it was pretty damn awesome.

Some time later after numerous recommendations from other friends, I started streaming the series from the beginning on NetFlix. I was interested right away and by the time Tuco arrived, it was the perfect crack to get me through the nasty January 2014 winter. Once I finished the series I have to say this is probably the best series (front to back) as well as finale I've ever seen.

This winter, I started the series over, as my GF has not watched it. We're almost through season 2 and damnit, this show is still THE BEST. It's not losing much the second time around.

Have you seen The Wire? I am giving it a second go right now, and I have to say that Breaking Bad, while an awesome show, doesn't come close in my opinion.

Had never seen this series. I'm half way through season 3. Seems like each season the show gets better and better.
