Keeping Score, Some good points, not all are accurate, in my opinion, and I think some of the presented facts are more so assumed than real. Neve the less, here is my attempted reply.
1. It was Mac (sorry Mac - you're ok and all, but you know it's true) who was constantly getting suspended and fighting with management back in the day at WSCR. It was Mac who was negotiating with WMVP, while still employed at the Score, thusly, backstabbing his former co-employees, as well as undermining his own personal integrity, as well as the station's. If anybody started the breakup and demise of the "Score originals", it was indeed Mac.
No doubt that Mac lets his temper get the best of him. I never heard or seen any facts to prove that Mac was negoiating with WMVP while still at the Score (not denying that it probably happened, but can you proof it, just like you wanted everyone to prove the Mike North pimp story)? Didn't North go to NY and demand more money and threaten to take his ads with him? That doesn't exactly make North a quality team member.
2. It has been Mac ever since, who has repeatedly thrown his contemparies under the bus. He said he was miserable working with his ex partner Jiggetts, he has ridiculed Murph for years, as well as having ridiculed Score management - both while he was still employed their - while he was negotiating behind their back - and ever since he left. And he has always blamed Mike for everything.
Being a casual MJH listener (and a fan of the show), I will agree he has thrown North under the bus many times. I don't think he would be doing so if a lot of what North has done didn't bother him. Mac can say all he wants on his 20th anniversary show that he doesn't dislike North, but he did say a lot of harsh things about him through the years. I remember the 2002 Sun-Times article where they both tore each other up... maybe they get along now, but I wouldn't bet they would call each other "chums" in '02.
3. Nobody - not Hood, Grobber, Jiggs, T Dub or any other former Score host, or former part of Score management, has ever backed up Mac's assertions and claims that Mike was the one who caused so many problems behind the scenes. And none of them have ever said that Mike "runs" the Score. And none of them have ever said that Mike was racist or mean spirited. Mike, as opposed to Mac, or any other comtempary, has never thrown fellow hosts, former co hosts, competitors or former management under the bus. And has always been very complimentary of all of those people.
Hood has thrown misc. shots at WSCR since going to ESPN, but yeah, never at Mike North that I know of. Another poster most recently mentioned that Hood even included North on his own website as the many WSCR individuals who he thanked while there. Grobber and TDub never said anything bad about North on their respected websites or while together on ESPN 1000 (though short lived). Who knows if they have gripes with North, or maybe they were smart and decided to keep any gripes to themselves. Who really knows?
4. Management gave Mike his contract. It is not Mike's fault how much money he makes.
I think WSCR management is a joke. I don't believe North is worth the amount of money that WSCR gave him. The joke is on them.
5. Do you really blame Mike for not still living in an apartment? Is it a crime that he wanted to make life better for Bebe? Can he not enjoy the fruits of his labor after all those years?
I could care less where he lives, honestly. I just think it's stupid that he is allowed to broadcast from his home, regardless the reason.
6. It was Management, not Mike, who had the idea for the morning show. It was Mike's decision to bring in Annie, but it was Management's decision to have the show in the first place.
I believe North took credit in the beginning for making the show be general talk. I thought part of the deal was, he would only move to mornings if he had that option. So it was his decision to bring in Annie, she obviously is not a good contributor, so shouldn't it be his decision or at least have the input to remove her??
7. And it is Mike, more than anybody else combined at the Score, who brings in the wealth of the advertising revenue.[/quote]
How much longer will that last? His ratings are not good. The Score has plenty more promising shows such as Mulligan and Hanley/Haugh, and they have B&B (like them or not, they seem to have a loyal fan following).
