Another preview for a series kicking off in 2016. Brought to us by Scorsese and Mick Jagger of all people. Looks like the story of a guy
founding a record company in the 1970s. Should put that Empire show to shame but we shall see.

Any thoughts after the movie length pilot? I had no idea that Andrew Dice Clay was playing that Alfred Molina-esque character.

Show looks and sounds great but some parts were a little too on the nose (and I'm not talking about cocaine) for my tastes. Richie essentially being reborn after that building collapse was a bit much.

I imagine I'm the target demo for this show and I didn't think it was great.

No but really, Tony Soprano and Dom Draper exist. So does Walter White. I like the actor who plays the lead here but what is gonna bring to the table that hasnt already been provided?

Too much tweaking like he is hearing and seeing something nobody else can see, this "visionary" crap is overplayed.

Cool to see some of the bands, early starts, etc ....yet I sense a huge let down coming if every scene is Cannavale smoking, tweaking, in deep thought like he is some mob guy contemplating the future of music.

Yeah, I will watch and I dont think it is as terrible as Empire was (Turrible!), but this might just be a little too much inside of one guys perspective, that doesnt seem all that interesting after the first few times he starts smoking and his own battles with every vice available.

Prove me wrong.....I HOPE!

Recorded it, might wait till I get some feedback on half the season. But, very happy to hear that Sturgill Simpson did the opening theme song, gonna check that out when I get home tonight.

Pilots are always weird. I'll see what people are saying halfway through the season. Bobby Cannavale is a legitimate scenery chewer and that's not what you want in a lead role. Not much real inneresting coming from HBO lately. I like Veep and Silicon Valley but am only sticking with Game of Thrones to see how it ends since GRUM won't ever finish it. The rest of the lineup is hot garbage.

It was too much of the picture I posted above in almost every scene.

It was just ok but I will stick with it. Hot garbage may be a bit strong. The stuff on Network tv is
Almost unwatchable in a lot of cases. This isn't that .

I am curious, but will wait until I can string a few episodes together.

Watched the Pilot last night. I liked it. Great musical performances were mixed in all throughout the show. I especially liked the bookend on New York Dolls "Personality Crisis" performance.

When you build it up like HBO for a long time, expectatons rise and when it is below average, its going to take a beating.

Sopranos got no hype early and became huge. LAter years the show wasnt as raw and maybe a little forced. I think HBO knows it, but they need 1 NAME show for each season. This one was to be it. Mick and Marty as producers, should be better.

Scorcese and the music will allow this show a longer rope. Maybe it will get better.

I can not sit through this in one sitting. So far, 2 sittings and I am at the part where he is talking to the black guy in the bar. I see nothing so far that says this will be good.

I watched episode 2 last night. Even better than the pilot. The Bruce Lee shit in the office had me dying.

Great music featured throughout once again.

Just got caught up on this series. I guess I don't really get where it is going. Overall it
has been a disappointment to me. The music has been good and I really enjoyed the Alice
Cooper scenes but overall it's just meh. That said I will continue to give it a few more
episodes.

I'm on the fence post about this show as well. I'll give it a couple more episodes to change my mind either way.

It's all over the place and can be a bit difficult to follow at times...

Especially if you are not familiar with some of the artists that were just about to become big or recently made it during that era.

Pretty strange show. Might get more interesting once he gets sober and tries to save the business. I never paid much attention to Olivia Wilde before this show but wow is she a knockout, especially when she stripped naked.

This show has been a flaming trash like the last two episodes.

I've got this saved on the DVR, is it even worth watching? Reading this thread it sounds like the answer is no.

Someone at least tell me which episode Olivia Wilde gets naked in? I'd revenge porn the shit out of that.

People who don't like good music seem to hate it. You listen to garbage nu-country, so you should probably pass.

I wish I knew Richie's coke dealer. I've snorted a lot of blow in my time but I've never had any shit that snapped my neck back.
