Except have and of are not pronounced the same way. That should differentiate it for the person of average intelligence.

Don't let shortcuts make you lazy.

We live in Chicago...land. If you're looking for people who dont take shortcuts on words, I suggest you look elsewhere

But its possible that "should've" sounds like "should of", especially when someone is impaired by booze or drugs

But like I said, you wont hear it out of me. From a very young age I was taught that speaking and pronunciation matters and you will be judged on it.

I cringe when people use "aint"

Being the rap aficionado you are, I imagine you cringe enough to the point where onlookers might mistake you for a person with a severe disability.

:D

Lifetime exception for rappers.

Also it's part of the art and it's the language of the streets.

If I was raising Raekwon as my son (as opposed to the streets), he'd be easing up on the aints for sure!

It seems these days many people either start or end their sentences with "right..."

You know I suppose a "tough road to hoe" could be a saying if you meant it was a difficult street to be a prostitute.

I used to think the saying was pronounced "intensive purposes" till I wrote it in a paper first year of law school....that was embarrassing.

I also thought "Faux Pas" was pronounced phonetically till I said it out loud in a college class freshman year. Also embarrassing.

The lady on the other side of my wall here at the offices says "times", constantly...as in:

You have to times it by 24.2

I want to throw my stapler at her.

My AP psych teacher said the opposite of anal-retentive was anal-explosive. I corrected him and said it was anal-expulsive, as in retain or expel. We went back and forth a couple times until he finally said that it was a joke and I ruined the joke and I should feel bad. I don't think it was a joke.

I've written about a co-worker of mine before who tried to fight me at work.

He does everything that has been listed and more

Pronounces Manipulate [MUH-NIP-UH-LATE] Stipulate [STIP-UH-LATE]

And has been known to send emails like "just making sure you seen we made new lows"
