Look for more doubles and less HR's in 2016.

If he was trying to turn himself into Grace he would have gotten a couple DUI's in the offseason.

Hey good dolphin its less like Peanuts and more like Deez Nuts. In your mouth!.....The rise of the Chicago Cubs begins now and the White Sock Fan has never been more afraid. This is true fact!

No fear here. Pride cometh before the fall. The season is never better than when Cub fans begin it full of optimism.

I talked to a Cub fan Saturday night that said they were going to win a minimum of 105 games. Then he suggested they had easily the best lineup in baseball.

 Which one? I have to point out that such thoughts are based on hope rather than anything that has actually occurred. You hope pitchers won't deal with Schwarber better than they did in his first 100 big league at-bats, you hope Heyward will be better than he has been, you hope Bryant will cut down on strikeouts and improve, you hope Addison Russell is Barry Larkin.

Nah. While those players being even better would be great, there is no other offensive lineup I'd choose.

These Cubs, as is, will get on base at a high percentage and have a lot of extra base pop. Runs will be scored in bunches.

You may disagree. That's fine. They weren't far from being the best offensive lineup last season.

We disagree because the 2015 Cubs actually were far from being "the best offensive" lineup last season.

NL Team Rankings per ESPN.com;

OPS 6th
AVG 14th
SLG 7th
HRs 5th
Total Bases 8th
OB% 5th
Total Hits 14th
Runs 6th
Ks 6th
But they did lead the NL in walks, so you've got that going for you!

And these are just NL rankings. I'm sure if I searched this under all of MLB, the Cubs numbers would look a lot worse.

This is what I mean when I say that you and other Cubs fans have gone way over the top with their Cubbie love over the last few months. Optimism is one thing, but the Cubs were nowhere near the best offense in the NL last year. They were much closer to middle of the pack than anything else.

As Joe Orr said, you are basing your 2016 offense on something other than actual facts.

Glimmers of potential is all we've actually seen...plus JA...and that was enough to get them into the playoffs. Optimism is giving way to expectation...Hopefully this young group can take the pressure.

Or we could go with the second half Cubs since that roster more closely resembles 2016.

in NL:

2nd in runs / RBI
3rd in doubles
2nd in home runs
4th in total bases
2nd in OBP
4th in SLG
3rd in OPS

And yes, when comparing runs to an AL team with the DH it won't stack up.

I'm not the only one that has the Cubs up there.

I ran into a Sox fan this weekend who said the Sox would win over 100 games this year and at least get to the ALCS.

Thus, we can conclude, all Sox fans believe this, and all Sox fans are idiots!

This is the key.

The PRESSURE is here, like it or not. It will make it harder to win. Teams play harder when they are underdogs, happens in every sport in every game. Makes the potential winning more enjoyable.

JORR's the one who said he's fairly objective. I was just saying you seemed to change your opinion quickly.

Also, I can't tell who's trolling and who's not in baseball conversations so I often don't read them.

Yeah. Let's just throw away the stats for the first 80 games. That's smart.

Midnight.

No.

Big Hurt's Brewhouse

I made two $100 bets with him:

1. Over/Under 97 wins
2. Addison Russell making All-Star team

I tried to bet Frazier/Abreu vs. Bryant/Rizzo for $100 each in AVG, HR, and RBI, but in spite of insisting how superior the Cub guys are he would not take that bet.
