yet locally everyone is pessimistic?

I saw one on line national article that set up the Sox as one of the teams most likely to disappoint. I was wondering how big of a disappointment a team not making .500 could be compared to the league. Apparently there are people that like this Sox team.

I can't remember a team who could win 70 to 90 games, with either result being unsurprising.

Because they have Chris Sale and Jose Abreu, who are both extremely good, and added Todd Frazier. Then there's Eaton, Quintana, Rodon and Robertson. National media just expects the Sox to have decent players around those guys **tugs collar** that can help them win. The top of the Sox roster is as good as any other team's in baseball, and that's what the national guys are looking at.

people know Sale, Quintana, Rodon, Abreu, now Frazier...people figure the team must be fairly decent. they don't realize how horrible the rest of the team is.

Because Ventura lights up any room he enters. That has to count for something.

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me 108 times, I'm a Cubs fan.

That is true for a few teams each year. Look at the Tigers of 2016 as well. I could see that scenario for them as well. How about the Rays too? The Indians and Red Sox perhaps as well.
