It's pretty cool knowing your team already has this thing wrapped up. Can just sit back and enjoy the season now.

In fairness, we don't really know what Sox fans would do with a negative Cubs thread given that it has never existed.

The only thread I remember him making was the "LaHair > Konerko" thread.

As I suggested last year, Sox fans should have gone for it...why not? Gonna get shit if they sucked, so why not shoot for the WS and actually say it? Thats true swagger !

Say you are going to do and then do it....85 Bears did it, Jordan did it all the time!

Shaq told the story to the Dan Patrick show, of how MJ dominated his teammate, Nick Anderson:

“I’m coming down. I’m going to dribble it between my legs twice. I’m going to pump fake and then I’m going to shoot a jumper. And then I’m going to look at you. And that’s exactly what he did.”

My first post here was ripping the Cubs as they headed into the playoffs with 97 wins in 08

Because pitching was such a problem for last year's Cubs team. And they've only improved it.

Along with the top offense in NL, they have a top 3 pitching staff.

The 30 for 30 crew has already shown up to Mesa.

What?

When swapping Haren for Lackey and adding Adam Warren are the only two moves of any weight, how would you consider that regressing?

You really think those overall numbers you linked to are going to be better in 2016?

Board was the exact same way around 2007-2008. This year should be amusing.

Michael must have forgotten to mention the part where Anderson picked his pocket:

Huge pressure on this Cubs team...to deny it is foolish. Not sure any player really feels it that much though. Heyward and Lester will feel the pressure of a contract.

Just the longevity, not even a questions Maddon knows the meaning of it more than any of them....all those years in the AL East battling with the Jankees and Red Sox while his team spent about 20% of what those guys spent.

Now he is in the big boy leagues, no sneaking up on anyone, you are now the hunted....different world my friend.

In Mesa? No. Why should they? Once they start playing games though, and the media is asking about them winning day in and day out and day in and day out, and every single interview and guest spot they do-- after the initial greeting-- is a question about what would it mean to win in Chicago, the pressure then mounts day by day. This will be especially true if they get off to even a decent start. To deny that is absolutely foolish.

Just look at last season. All we heard was how that Cubs team was "different", and they didn't care about the past. Then they bundled themselves up, went out to face the Mets, and struck out like crazy and dropped balls all over the outfield, and in 4 short games the dream was dead.

Sure there are raised expectations. Having a stacked team that is coming off a season where they won 97 regular season games, beat the Pirates in the Wild Card, beat the Cardinals in the NLDS before improving the team, is good reason for high expectations. They actually had a fairly pedestrian season up to the All Star break. But it was afterwards that the team gained steam, with Russell taking over at SS and Schwarber being called up. The team should have far more self-belief and enter into 2016 confident in themselves and each other. I think that confidence trumps any pressure and Madden is the perfect guy to deal with that anyway. 2016 is going to be a blast.

You are really on this. I agree. The only thing Ill say is I think it's a good thing a lot of them are young (and dont know enough to feel pressure)
