Not to be a stickler. But this gets posted so much that I feel like pointing out that he didnt even leave the Red Sox at that point.

He left town years later after two World Series on a wave of Beer and Chicken

I dont think you really believe this. Ill bet if you had to bet your life where they'll be after 100 games it would be significantly higher than 51-49

Of course injuries or whatever could happen and they could have a down year, but If you're just guessing based of what we know now, they should be pretty good at the very least

I cant imagine what your logic is there but I am just stating facts.

Theo took over in 2002
Won WS in 2004
Gorilla Suit negotiations in 05
Another World Series in 07
Then after 2011 he left Boston

JORR and others seem to be suggesting he snuck out of town and left for good. The fact is he stayed and won a second world series. If you consider that "worse" than leaving after one World Series....well that's just kind of weird.

The fact that he came back after the hilarious Gorilla Suit thing makes the Gorilla Suit thing worse.

Then, later, he won another World Series but you know I wasn't referring to him winning a World Series.

Ok well that makes no sense at all. He didn't leave. So you're essentially saying that its bad that Theo wore a Halloween (on Halloween btw) costume to try and avoid the press at Fenway during contract negotiations.

Also, you've completely missed the point JORR and others have attempted to make.

They arent saying "man, that Theo is goofy and wears Gorilla suits, what's his DEAL?"

They're tying to say "Theo snuck out of Boston in a gorilla suit and left the Red Sox high and dry"

Its factually incorrect.

There are plenty of things to get on Theo for. Wearing a Halloween costume on Halloween seems a little odd.

I'd love to see the Cubs trade Schwarber for Yu Darvish. He could either be the #3 starter or perhaps closer if his arm can't handle the workload.

I just think a grown man who is supposed to be a respected executive wearing a gorilla suit is far more absurd than Crane Kenney in a Cub jersey.

You make it sound like its in his regular rotation of work attire.

He used it to get past the media. I see no issue with that.

He doesnt wear it as well as Jim Belushi though.

If he wants to get out of Wrigley without being noticed as a Cub, he should just wear his WS rings!

JORR's love for Theo has no bounds...

You do know that if the Cubs win a World series while he is here, Theo gets into the conversation as the best GM ever in baseball. For sure HOF status and beyond...like it or not, it happens...

I don't mind Epstein. I think he's a good GM. But no way he can compare to Beane who manages to contend most seasons on a shoestring without tanking for five straight years.

By the way, no one cares if you ditch the White Sox. If you switch over to the Cubs though you have to turn in your 2005 World Series memories and spend at least 3 nights a year acting like a dbag with a popped collar in Wrigleyville.

To have built World Series champions in Boston and the North side of Chicago, for the 2 teams that had/ have gone longest in each league without winning a title....HOF for sure. The fact that he has done his job in very different fashions in the 2 cities, as a result of very different spending constraints in Chicago (initially) makes it even more impressive. I didn't enjoy the losing in the first few seasons, but understood it was a necessary element. To see 40% of the starting rotation traded away 2 years in a row at the trade deadline wasn't fun either. But having guys like Arrieta, Rondon, Ramirez, Grimm and Strop in place as a result of those deals, makes it all worthwhile. Now we can look back on the guys traded away (Dempster, Garza, Feldman and Maholm) knowing none of them would probably be able to earn a spot on the team today if they tried. Theo has not been perfect (Edwin Jackson is a glaring mistake), but he's been damn good.

If this was posed as a hypothetical it was done very poorly. I dont think it was, though.
