Not saying you have to mimic the program but never tackling in practice does not make the game safer.

BREAKING: Ivy League eliminates tackling in football practices.

Yeah, tackle football is not any more dangerous than two hand touch football.

In 20 years when tackling is gone from the game they'll be talking about the Ivy League as pioneers.

I went to an SICP new students thing this week where a father proudly told me his son was ready to play football because his son dominated the Hardy Prep flag football league.

Walking into full contact tackle games without any previous tackling should be really safe :thumright:

Biggie's been extra pruney lately so I don't think it would stand.

They'll sing the same praises about your no-check league in the NHL.

There's not too much checking in today's NHL.

Checking is already being phased out of the game at many levels. USA hockey eliminated checking from peewee hockey (10-12 years old) a few years ago.

NHL cracking down on head shots will eventually lead to new rules on checking even at the highest level.

I don't think they'll ever get rid of checking altogether from the NHL, but I could see a league one day where only certain type of rub-out hits are allowed or certain areas on the ice hitting is not allowed etc. I could see an NHL one day where certain areas of the ice are painted a different color similar to the crease and are called safe zones. For instance is someone is within 4 feet of the boards only defenders also in that same area can hit them...an effort to eliminate all boardings. Radical stuff like that, I could see start showing up in some form in the next 20 years as concussion education continues to grow.

wasn't it an ivy league school where the students were lamenting that homework was getting in the way of their protesting and social justice mongering?
