 Bernsie breaking bad on Maddon's 70's van trickery right now. Thinks the guys on this team are not really familiar with the 70's vibe.

I don't know but it certainly has been considered newsworthy on several days this year.

Okay.......well, lets agree that Fowler wanted more than the 15.8 million Qualifying offer he rejected. Because any team he may have signed with, would have to forfeit a draft choice and he wanted an out clause in his deal, he was unable to find a team willing to give him the deal he sought. So he returned to a good situation for less money than he wanted, but with a chance to perhaps cash in after the upcoming season, when the Cubs may well opt out of the deal and buy him out for 5 million, providing Almora is ready to take over CF. Good for him, in that with the buyout combined with this years salary, he winds up making out pretty well financially. Plus he becomes a free agent in a year where very few good ones will be available. Good for the Cubs, as they are covered in CF for 2016, allowing Heyward to stay in RF, where he is best suited to play. Win/ Win.

You think Dexter Fowler's wife woke up last week and said "Hey, Dex? I feel like we won!"

It was a win for your team. Congratulations to them

I think the QO was almost 16 mil this year, no?

Wow....I looked it up and indeed it was 15.8 million, so basically the 5 million buyout will only bring him back to 13 million (with the 8 million he gets in 2016), well short of the 15.8 he could have received and should Almora not be ready, the Cubscould bring him back for 9 million in 2017. Not sure why, but I thought he only turned down 11 million. As Julia Roberts said in Pretty Woman....Big mistake...huge. Again, all that matters is that it worked out great for the Cubs.

This universe. She isn't black, after all.

Wrong. I don't care about how any of the wives feel about their husbands salaries. I care about the team putting the best group together possible. Some are paid less than they might feel they deseve. Some (Lester and Heyward for example) make far more than I think they should. But as long as they can help the Cubs win a World Series, it's all good. In NO universe do I care about Dexter Fowler's wife.

Why in the hell would anyone care how Dexter Fowler's wife feels about her husband's salary? Gee, he will ONLY make 8 million in 2016. We better take up a collection or hold a bake sale. I care about the Cubs putting together a team best capable of winning a title. Period.

What rational person cares about the outcome of some random 25 people playing a kids game against a bunch of other random people. You don't know any of these people; why do you care about their success? How does professional baseball affect your life? Why should those same 25 people give a shit about what you think about their skill or success?

I don't believe the players should give any thought whatsoever to what I think about their skills or success. If they give any thought to how any fan feels about that, it's stupid. What rational person cares about the outcome of Baseball games/ seasons? Millions of people do and it's the reason most people that post in these threads bother to. They (like myself) do care. I have loved the game of Baseball since I was very young. I have known a few players. But those I knew are retired now. I have met many players, but to say I know them would be a lie. I care about their success only as it relates to whether or not their performances helps the Cubs or not. I have never placed an inordinate amount of importance on winning a title. I would love to see it, but it won't change my life. I loved the 2003 season and say it was a great season, even though it didn't end with a title. I love the game and a Championship would just be an extra cherry on the sundae.

Saying its stupid would be a normal reaction.

Saying the players gave courtesy laughs and thinking about how they all hate it and being bothered by the alleged courtesy laughs are the actions of a very stressed out hateful person on the brink of a mental breakdown.

Dude. JORR didn't post in this thread yet.

My only criticism of this event is that his players are all too young to even get the joke.

I have to admit, I think it's hilarious. How much that translates into wins and losses, I can't say.
