I don't deny that the hype is already out of control. Its over the top and if I was a Sox fan, I would understand the digust and the inability to view the team in any other light.

However, its just gonna get worse as the season goes on. I don't love it, as it all just piles on the pressure, but if you are championship pedigree, you should be able to handle it.

My favorite part is that someone is that dugout will start making fun of them "The Bobsie Twins" "frick n frack" ...or Lester "You and Boyfriend better start hitting!"

The cheese will be out in rare form.

...and all this shit creates more pressure and I have already forbidden pressure from being an excuse.

I mentioned it last year regarding Bryant. They held back all his items and MLB has virtually marked up Bryant stuff 5 to 10 x's more than most.

I know why they have done it, because the info they have says he will be one of the most popular players in the game....and be as popular as Bryce and Trout. Of course I would rather see them be as good as them.

Still the question remains....HOW DID THE TEAM OF BRYANT, HARPER AND GALLO ever Loser a Little league Game!!!!!!!!

Ali once said "It aint bragging if you can do it." The hype is just a reflection of how people feel this team should perform. The team is not just stacked with talent in the lineup, but even has guys on the bench that would start on many teams and a deeper pitching rotation. No reason to apologize for being excited about the upcoming season or the future in general, of this team. It is built for sustained success. Just enjoy it.

But if they don't win a title we can make fun of it right?

Sure YOU and the other "subbies" can and will .... but I expect the unbiased BRick to make fun of the #WINNOW ver. 11.0 team as well.

If they were to fall flat on their face and not qualify for the playoffs even, sure. But if they win their division and lose in the playoffs, no. The playoffs are often about what team gets hot at the right time. A pitcher like Hershiser gets on a roll and can't be scored on, much less beat, or a 83-79 Cardinals team gets hot at the right time and has 2 pitchers that are on an unbelievable roll....can't be predicted, but it happens. The whole idea is sustained success. Making the playoffs year after year, with a legitimate chance to win it all each season. It will happen and hopefully more than once, but no team is certain in any season. Injuries, luck and who is on a roll come October all factors in. But if they fall flat on their face like the Nationals, the Padres or the Sox did last season, absolutely.

So the hype for this team is because they are likely to make the playoffs?

The White Sox suck.

I disagree. With Frazier, their lineup is significantly improved. He should provide some protection for Abreau and I expect Abreau to have a better season as a result. Their starting pitching is good. Sale is a top starter and Rodon has the stuff to be exceptional as well. If Quintana can get better run support he might win pretty frequently as well. Robertson was outstanding the first half of last season before they were so bad it didn't much matter anymore and is a reliable closer. They should be above .500. The problem is, that division is going to be vastly better in 2016. The Tigers and Indians are going to both be better and K.C. is still going to be good, though I can see them taking a step back after winning the title. But the Sox won't suck in 2016. But with all the attention the Cubs will be getting, it won't be noticed much either way.

Of course not. The hype is because they have assembled a team that should be a legitimate contender to win it all. They have a team that should be in a position to truly contend for a title. The best part is, it's built for the long haul. Not just to win with aging veterans (though they have added guys like Zobrist and Lackey to try to put them over the top now) but with players who will be part of the core for many years to come.

Isn't that how a slightly better than mediocre third place Cub team made the NLCS last year?

Not at all. A 97 win team is far from slightly better than mediocre. They played outstanding after Maddon moved Russell to SS and they brought Schwarber up. Their record after that was best in the majors. The fact that they finished slightly behind ( just 1 game behind the Pirates and 3 behind the Cardinals) didn't much matter, as they easily qualified for the playoffs, by having the 3rd best record in the league. The Cardinals and Pirates are weaker and the Cubs improved themselves, so they should be able to avoid the Wildcard game this year after winning their division. But a 97 win team isn't a fluke or just slightly better than mediocre and by identifying them as such in your opinion, you only make yourself look foolish.

I think that depends on what league they play in.
