I saw a clip of Chevy Chase today talking about a time during the making of Caddy Shack when Bill Murray and his brother knocked on Chevy's door at 3:00 a.m. looking for weed. It was a funny story he told, because all three ended up going to Rodney Dangerfield's room, who didn't have any pot but had a big bag full of marijuana seeds that they ended up smoking. Who wouldn't have wanted to be a fly on the wall for that funny meet-up?

I know during their Saturday Night Live days that Chevy and Murray were not on the best of terms, probably because of Chevy's big ego at the time. But in the end, who really has been more successful in their acts and movies?

I love Bill Murray, but it seems to me that Chevy made more and better comedies. Murray had Caddy Shack, Meatballs and Ghostbusters, but what else? Chevy had Vacation, European Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Fletch, Spies like Us and Three Amigos among others. I guess it comes down to personal preference, but for me Chevy was a better comedic actor. Probably the best of all-time.

Neither Scrooged or Groundhog Day were great, I'm sorry. If you've seen them once, you've seen them enough.

I think Chase's movies stand up way better. Hell, he was even funny in Fletch Lives!!

You must have never seen Quick Change a brilliant and overlooked movie. That alone cements Murray as being better than Chase. Only Chase movie that I ever liked was the two Fletch ones.

Lost in Translation wasn't particularly funny, but I'm not sure it was intended to be. It was sad, and people don't want Bill Murray being sad. But he was actually good at being sad.

Some of Murrays shit sucks (A very Murray christmas) but he is funny guy....especially when compared to Chevy Chase...I am shocked people actually rest on the vacation series as evidence of his humor.

Murray easily, but I'm not a fan of either. Chase hasn't been in a good flik since The first vacation movie. Murray hasn't been in a good flik since Rushmore.

I did think Quick change was pretty good..that was 20 years ago though..his post Rushmore stuff is garbage. St Vincent was the second worst movie I've watched start to finish in recent memory.

I thought the original Vacation was funny, but European Vacation was even better. It's not always what Chevy says that's funny, but also what he does. Like when he jumps on the bed in England and it's rock-hard, so he falls off and acts like he's looking for the bible in the night stand. Or during the Big Ben Scene when he goes mad at the end by first laughing and then crying. Pure genius!

Criminally underrated. Maybe his best.

what about Bob is one of the funniest movies to me. Spies Like Us is just like Chevy's career...starts out gangbusters and then sucks hard for the second half...so hard you doubt the funny level of the first half.
