First of all, I couldn't believe my ears -- Fred was arguing with Mike.
Northy misconstrues what George Mitchell said about no player coming forward when asked to answer questions. Fred tells him that was in reference to those who were on the list, then the initial caller tries to correct Mike. Instead of admitting his mistake, Mike jumps to pointing fingers at the media outlets for burying this newsworthy item and then he questions the accuracy of Joe Cowley, the writer who mentioned that Frank Thomas spoke to Mitchell.
I also loved it when Mike was Barry Horowitzing himself about Clemens. You're right Mike, you were the lead dog on this scent.
Haven't heard the show in about a week. Good thing my radio was set to 670 today. Great job Mike.

i'm with you until the last sentence, man. i don't get why everyone who bashes the mike north morning show (99% of the time, rightfully) needs to justify the whole thing by saying something about how their radio dial, in a fit of Poltergeist-like possessed autonomy, tuned itself to the Score between the hours of 6 and 10am. just chill out, man, there's nothing else on in the morning anyway, unless you have one of them new-fangled satellite receptors, in which case, sure, you do need an excuse. but i don't particularly like the show and on my very brief drive home (i work at chicago + halsted, i live at chicago + noble, you do the math) or to the grocery store because, well, there's nothing else on, and it's the score, and who really cares.

I believe a lot of people go from 670 to 1000 am most of the day. And just so happen 670 might be the last thing on the dial before they get out the vehicle after a commute. And in the morning, lo and behold they are listening to the Score. And in a moment of clarity realize that it's North and get 3rd degree finger burns from switching the dial so fast!

sure, but it's not like you don't know what you're in for. how long has he been in that timeslot now? since i was in high school, at the very least.

Suckers Playground, that is one of the greatest posts I've ever seen in this section and it completely sums up my thoughts. It also represents why this is my least favorite section on the board.

Hey Playground, I guess I have to explain myself to you and others. Several posters have questioned shots at Mike North by asking, "If it's so bad, why do you listen to it?" I was only trying to distance myself from someone who listens to a program religously and also constantly complains about the dialogue on that said program. I listen to the station most of the day, finishing with the Dan Patrick experience. When I wake up in the morning, my radio and headphones are tuned to 670 -- and Mike North's show. Depending on my mood, I'll either change it immediately or listen for a few short moments. It usually never goes over five minutes. In that short span of time, I have enough ammo for a post.
