After that comes judgment, oh, and judgment will be swift
You will be eliminated, but here's a parting gift:
If you die fearing God, and painfully employed
No, you will not go to heaven, you'll go to Champaign, Illinois

Who is "you" in this sense? Because believe me, the townies that showed up for The Return of The Chief around '08 or '09 or so didn't understand, much less admit, that there was anything "wrong" with the mascot.

"You" in this sense is literally you, who said the quote below.

Ok...but I don't enjoy Chief, never did, even as a drunken kid at the football games. What makes you think that I did?

I was asking what was wrong with ignorant townies resisting progressive overtures of thought in the general sense, which is the point Dan was originally making: "These toothless hicks just don't want to be liberal, that's why they still like The Chief."

It is racist and people shouldn't enjoy racist things.

Now, if you want to say it is ignorance that causes them to like them, well, I still don't care.

Is there an answer to anything I've asked in there? Sorry, I've looked a few times, and just can't see one.

No, I want to say that skepticism of, and even outright resistance to, the progressive viewpoint isn't wrong. Regardless of whether the resistance/skepticism is based in ignorance, there isn't anything wrong with not wishing to immediately adopt a progressive stance which is dictated to you by people that openly declare themselves your "betters". In this case, Dan Bernstein.

Yes. Ignorance is not an excuse.

You think it is racist. You can judge racists if you want.

Modestly endowed scholarships for Seminole kids & a few payments to the tribe are a better jumping off point, but...

Still more impressive than a drunken, clownish upperclassman playing a game for the rubes.

And I'm almost on board in rooting for at least modest success for the Illini football program.

When Hillary releases her Wall Street speeches, then they will.

Have the Cheney/Bush energy advisory meeting minutes of 2001 been made public yet?

The Irish are the superior race so by definition they can't be discriminated against.

the only race they're superior at is the one that ends at the bottom of a whiskey bottle.

What if some other minority were to both caricature and extrapolate in their team/mascot celebration??? Before I speak any further I need to put this thought into "treatment" form.
