WRONG! Their evaluation of Baez, is that he is a very good player that they currently have no position to offer him. So they will take advantage of his versatility and use him much as Joe used Zobrist for years.....playing all over the infield and outfield to give others a rest and himself regular playing time.


If their evaluation is as you say, they would never have signed Zobrist.


Zobrist is a known commodity, whereas Baez is still suspect in many minds. They took the safer route. As far as I am concerned, signing Zobrist was a mistake long term. But if he helps win a championship this year or next, it will all be worthwhile.

My "evals"? I clearly wrote "their evaluations". I say "their evaluations" because they have made him a backup at the MLB level for the next three years in practice...but maybe their "evals" are that he is a full time MLB player and they have dismissed those "evals".
