Beardown its one of the biggest reasons people by houses in a certain area. Of course everyone says they are in the best school district for their kids needs. Ho hum.

I always find it amusing when Dan makes fun of someone else's looks, like the unfortunate freshman he met at Duke while he was a student there.

For someone who has been called "the Penguin" on the air, it might be a good idea for him to keep comments like these to himself.

He sends his kids to a magnate school. He has intimated that he will move to the suburbs if they don't get into a magnate high school. He lives in a virtually gated subdivision within the city. He has also said that he doesn't send them to private school because of the cost.

I don't know anything about his kids, but one of the things that is interesting about some of these public schools is that they have magnet students and local students. The smart kids bump up the test scores and give the school its rep.

Deerfield Dan sends his kids to Public school, in his world thats substandard. private school is the real only acceptable education, kinda low budget of a man that is so focused on education.

While several Chicago magnet schools are outstanding--several of them, for instance, rank above New Trier in statewide assessments--I am surprised Bernstein doesn't send his kids to Francis Parker. That's the perfect place for the children of a cultural elitist like him.

look at it from his perspective: His kids would have to be mentally deficient for them not to be able to get into either Duke or Cornell (with the connections he has to both). Why pay when you have a great end result secured?
