This story makes way more sense now, I can finally see both sides. Robin is too much of a pussy to say to Laroche " hey Adam, I don't mind ya bringing your boy inside the clubhouse once in a while but not everyday" Kenny had to do it.

Laroche will regret not swallowing his pride and accepting some constructive criticism from his boss.

Career to date has made 70 million. Can afford to walk away at a perceived slight I guess.

If we have been told the whole story I do not think it is an unreasonable request to ask him to dial it back. No one else can just decide to bring their kid with them every day to work.

I can absolutely see that. Always having to watch their language or beers or whatever.

Ken Rosenthal says it's not true. Players rallied around the LaRoches. Another phony story from the Score probably sourced from a "guy" who doesn't really exist.

LaRoche is a fucking idiot. Sox are douchebags for giving his kid a uniform and locker in the clubhouse.

LaRoche is a classic idiot.

Let's just say everybody on the team wanted their kids with them every day. Nobody would. Because there aren't a lot of insane people like LaRoche. But let's just say they did. Cuz if he's allowed then everybody has to be allowed.

Then you have 25 kids in the club house every day. It's then a day care. How he doesn't realize what a burden he is to his teammates is beyond me. But he doesn't.

And how nobody in his family tells him he's an idiot is beyond me as well. Especially his wife. Then again, when you have a multimillionaire husband, you don't tell him he's wrong I guess.

But the Sox are also idiots for allowing it last year. Should have been told to him after the first week. They not only didn't say anything to him, they gave the kid a locker.

There was a very heated meeting yesterday between the players and management. A couple of high-profile players really went after KW.

Like I said. Of course it was going to cause a huge problem. Why is the President stepping into Clubhouse issues.

LaRoche only gets the pass in that he is a redneck baseball player who took his ball and went home. Kenny is suppossed to the a top exec of a major league team. Different expectations.

I bet there were a few guys who mentioned something to Robin and Kenny about it, The clubhouse is for relaxing n having a few beers n bullshitting with the boys..a lot of guys don't want a kid hanging around..Robin should have handled it but he's a a bitch so Kenny had to step in.

I agree a clubhouse is no place for kids at least on a consistent daily basis.

Having said that, why did Hahn and Kenny agree to that as a condition of his signing last year? Where they that desperate??

The sad thing about MLB and its marketing is that the people in charge don't have the slightest clue as to what their biggest problems are. It's simply impossible for the average fan to relate to the modern player. And once the fan doesn't care about the player it's just a short hop to not paying attention at all.

One of the biggest differences between baseball and football is that football players aren't real humans. They're steroidal monsters wearing all kinds of body armor. You can't even see their faces. Football would be no less popular if the players were replaced by CGI creations. In baseball caring about the players matters. It's like the difference between investing your time in Transformers or A Little Romance.

When the player glibly says this stupid shit about #familyfirst it just serves to further divide him from the fan. The players and MLB actually think they're bridging some gap. Everybody loves family, right? But the fan is a guy who is desperately figuring out how to jockey his remaining vacation with FMLA while he takes off for prostate surgery and he's constantly bombarded with MLB championing these millionaire crybabies taking off in the middle of pennant races to "help" their wives have a baby or worse yet cheering some ignorant hillbilly for quitting because the team asked him not to have his school-age child in the clubhouse constantly.

This is one of those stories where some people will immediately jump on the wrong side but in like 2 months we'll look back and everyone will understand the Sox were right.

The only issue is they probably shouldnt have let it go on all of last year.

Yeah, it was handled in a ham-handed way which is what anyone familiar with the Sox would expect. Leave it to Kenny to kill a good spring training vibe.

Also, I know there are a lot of people who believe that the end game in learning is to "make money" or "get a good job". Studying Plato or the The Odyssey won't help you and all that crap. If you're someone who believes that you should have no issue with Drake not attending school. He has all the money he'll ever need.

This is true. It may be possible though that the team couldn't place it as a problem last year as it came off the tracks so early. Or the newer teammates this year were able to make some like Sale see the issue.

Good point mike. I wonder if LaRoche's struggles made it difficult to broach. Like they were thinking, "well let's keep him comfortable and maybe he'll regain his form"

The Sox probably questioned whether LaRoche was just cashing a check while hanging out with his kid for a couple years and that he didn't have a commitment to baseball.

Then, LaRoche quit and gave up $13 million dollars because he couldn't hang out with his kid all the time. So, they'd be right if he didn't have a commitment to baseball.

Most of the tweets are just saying he is a great father, which he isn't, but they aren't necessarily saying the Sox were wrong.

See, you can't drop in the little "however' about last year, because thats a HUGE part of it. I would say it wasnt just allowed last year it was encouraged and affirmed by the Sox actions of giving him a locker and uniform. So, the Sox should take a huge portion of the blame here. They affirmed the arrangement by their actions.

Allowing it again this year is further confirmation.

Lets start with Kennys claim that he claimed he asked him to not have his kid there daily. What does that mean? He can show up everyday? he can come over once a week?

The fact Kenny ddnt think this was an issue says tons about him.

I dont think the kid should have been there in the first place and Laroche was foolish for walking away, but the situation was created by the Sox allowing and encouraging it, then handled poorly on many levels by a terrible "executive".

Legally speaking, the Sox actions could be seen as affirmation of the issue.
