Watched it this morning and I liked it. I stopped watching these with Rocky IV but really was intrigued
By the idea of this story. Solid writing and directing and I thought the acting was good as well. The
Fight scenes could have looked better. The old Rocky movies showed fight scenes from a distance
Which helped them look more realistic. These in Creed looked very obvious with the misses and
Choreography in my opinion. Small complaint in the end.

. on a minor annoyance note, I was also not buying Creed's wife paying the surely ginormous yearly property taxes on that huge mansion for 30 years on the sum of his early-to-mid 80's winnings (plus life insurance settlement? - if, indeed such a policy would cover boxing a steroid-fueled Russian freak). That seemed a stretch.

I give it 3 out of 4 brutally-swollen eyes, though.

Well-acted, properly stirring, and quite entertaining throughout.

The classic music at the end made me well-up with the Rocky-induced-manpride that Eddie Murphy described in 'Raw', no doubt.

How do you know Creed's wife didn't make money on her own?

Creed 2 Gets a Tentative November 2017 Release Date

With $120 million at the worldwide box office and now a Best Supporting actor Golden Globe for Sylvester Stallone, it’s no wonder that MGM CEO Gary Barber is moving so aggressively to get a sequel to Creed on the fast track. Barber has told Variety that the current plan is for Creed 2 to land in theaters in November of 2017, which may spell the end of director Ryan Coogler helming the second installment. Coogler is currently in talks to direct Marvel Studios’ Black Panther for a February 16, 2018 release, thus precluding him from simultaneously making Creed 2.

Just last week Stallone predicted as much, saying that“There’s a diminishing time acceptance of a sequel. Three years is a little much.” Three years is the amount of time it will take until Coogler would be available after making the superhero movie.

It’s all but assured that if MGM moves forward on Creed 2 without Coogler, the 29-year-old wunderkind will remain onboard as an executive producer and possibly guide another young filmmaker such as himself to recapture the lightning in a bottle they had this time out. Coogler has even had discussions with Stallone for the next installment, which could potentially mirror Rocky IV or even take a page from The Godfather Part II playbook and feature recurring flashbacks to Apollo Creed before his death.

“You’ll have him face a different opponent, which I would say is a more ferocious, big Russian,” Stallone says. “There’s a lot there.”

Coogler directed Creed from a screenplay he wrote with Aaron Covington, based on characters from the Rocky series written by Sylvester Stallone. The film was being produced by Robert Chartoff, Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Kevin King Templeton and Sylvester Stallone, with Nicholas Stern executive producing.

I thought everyone got along at the end of Rocky IV after Rocky's speech? Even Gorbachev and the politburo gave him a standing ovation.

Apollo is still dead.

At first, I heard this was going to be a Godfather 2 type thing with scenes from Apollo's rise mixed with present day. THAT would be awesome.

I am always pumped for anything Rocky related.

But I am not sure about the whole Drago deal. I think it might be better to push forward with the son fighting his own battles. They already had a perfect scenario for a sequel with the fighter that beat him as he was trying to get trained.

Stallone and his various movie franchises always seem to make a lot of money and be popular. Rocky, Rambo, Expendables, etc.

I'm a sucker for anything "Rocky" as well. Going forward, I would like to see Stallone somehow bring back the Clubber Lang character. Mr. T is always a good draw and Stallone seems to be very clever about reintroducing old characters and storylines into new plots.

I will see Creed 2 when it comes out for sure. Mrs Fella is a big fan of the Rocky stuff.

Interesting trailer.

Shows him getting knocked down and then in a hospital room to open it up. Wonder what that is about?

Can't wait to see it in Nov

Has a bit of a Rocky III vibe to it. Looks like he is champ, Rocky doesn't train him for the fight, Adonis doesn't take it as seriously as he should, he gets beat down, then I would guess Rocky trains him for the rematch/redemption.

Can't wait!

Yeah, maybe 2 fights with Drago in the same picture? First one Creed gets demolished like the Rocky and Clubber Lang storyline? Then a grand rematch at the end?

I find it hard to believe that he would ever take a fight with Drago lightly with all the family history and such. Maybe Creed is caught up taking it
too easy and not training hard enough like you mention.

If you pay close attention to the trailer, he's fighting Danny Stuntman Wheeler (Andre Ward) there.

So he probably gets knocked down by Wheeler, but then gets up and beats him. Thus, he should be validated and not go fight Drago 2.
