Kenny trades Sale for a bag of baseballs and an international slot.

Well they must have good sources because the roughly 2000 reporters now actually in Sox camp have not turned this up.

That's kinda what I thought, but Roz was pretty specific. Said there was a time when two Sox players wanted to turn on the Tigers game after their game, but the kid had on a kids show and lost the remote. Then when they found the remote, the batteries were missing and people were pissed or something. Of course, Roz said it with his Mort Goldman voice, so it sounded worse than it was.

Agreed.

Reporters are in the clubhouse constantly. This would be a large part of the narrative if true. Kenny needed a scapegoat...it was a 14 year old kid.

Can someone podcast this shit? It might have been, but again, they seemed to be legitimately analyzing it. Spiegel was saying it didn't sound like a huge deal, but it was a distraction, nonetheless. IDK. Maybe I just caught it halfway through and didn't realizing they were BS'ing.

But what toys and kids shows is a 13 year old dealing with?

Bong and Game of Thrones?

Are we really doubting that a 14 year old being around 100% of the time would be annoying?

Also nauseating is the media complaining that they "HAVE TO" deal with this...

I'm not buying that at all. His grandfather uncle and father are all major league players and I'm sure dictated if he was going to be in the locker room how to act. I'm pretty sure something like changing the TV station is a huge deal in there with a heirachy ( much like Sammys salsa music on the radio) where rookies and new players are hesitant to mess with and a 13 yr old is going to be putting on kids shows and losing the remote? Cmon. Tripping over his "stuff" ? What stuff? Leaving the 12 gauge out? Calling bullshit on all of it .

If that's true, then Kenny should have told whatever player complained to STFU.

Unless it was Abreu. He can't do that with him. No other White Sox player has sufficient pull.

So in the end, either Kenny made it up, or Kenny is taking the heat for Abreu.

Sale apparently thinks he has enough pull.

True, but given that Sale lit up Kenny like a Christmas tree, I am not cynical enough to believe it was him.

the current situation which arose after White Sox VP Ken Williams recently advised me to significantly scale back the time that my son spent in the clubhouse. Later, I was told not to bring him to the ballpark at all.

What Bernstein said he heard was that Kenny asked him to dial it back before spring training (he didn't just suddenly "derail the engine" as Sale put it), but then saw--or found out, perhaps from Rollins and others--that nothing had changed...the kid was still there all the time. So that's when he put more heat on, leading to the retirement decision (probably to his surprise and delight). LaRoche's quote above kind of corroborates this, but spins it in his favor. I'm guessing Kenny said something to the effect of if you refuse to dial it back, you won't be able to bring him at all.

If that kid was fetching my shit for me and running errands...I'd be more inclined to be okay with it.

The majority of players don't seem to be too annoyed. The star of the team doesn't seem to be too annoyed. The contract was negotiated with this as a clause.

I mean...it isn't just one thing or two things with this story. There are so many angles that make Kenny Williams a bad guy.

You know he was doing more than that.

Most are being silent. Even the defenders of LaRoche seem to be saying "Adam is a good family man".

I don't believe that was the catalyst at all.

I bet Kenny Williams was on the field or in the clubhouse one day during a bad day of practice or a bad spring training day...saw the players being too casual or seeming like they are aren't hungry for the season...and he said "the kid is making the atmosphere too light...we'll bounce him...we're here to work not to play!"

I'd bet not one player complained about it.

I'd be shocked if every player enjoyed having a 14 year old kid around 100% of the time.
