I remember Dan saying that once an athlete makes it, he should never go back to his "hood". Never associate with his old friends. That making it means you no longer have to be in Englewood. But that proclamation doesn't apply to Derrick Rose now?

By the way, why does it have to be an "Athlete that's made it" that has to go back and give to the community? Why can't it be a non athlete that's done well.

By way of background, my parents always received the Daily Herald, and I continued that when I moved out. I started delivering the newspaper when I was 10 years old and did so until they stop using paper boys (went to drivers) at aged 15. I have read that paper every day of my life from 5 years old on. SO, I have consumed a lot of Rozner, and it does not wear too well. I used to love Boers when he wrote for the Herald.

It's funny. When some guy calls in to say how he isn't going to attend Cubs, Sox, Bears, or Bulls games for this or that reason, dan rips the guy's fuckin' head off and tells him, "Good. They won't miss you. Nobody cares." When these assholes call in and keep insisting Kane did something wrong rather than simply being wrongly accused by a liar and her crazy family and say how they feel dirty watching the Hawks and they don't want to go to games anymore, dan says the Hawks don't care, but he says it in a sad, resigned way, as if the fan's stance in this instance is a noble quest rather than being futile stupidity like that of the fans who refuse to attend the games of the other teams.
