Was great on the "Game of the Week"

Arizona Diamondbacks ‏@Dbacks 21m21 minutes ago

We are deeply saddened by the loss of baseball legend and former #Dbacks broadcaster Joe Garagiola.

Fred Willard's movie stealing character, Buck Laughlin-Best in Show, was based on Garagiola

For that alone, he contributed greatly to this world.

I can't remember if it was him or Yogi Berra that always used to remark that "one Italian catcher from St. Louis was already on the team so the Cardinals(or Yankees) got stuck with the other one".

Seemed to have been an enlightened guy. Always enjoyed his broadcasts.

RIP Joe Garagiola. I had pleasure of interviewing him a couple years ago.

Up there with Bob Uecker as one of the guys who transcended baseball on personality rather than achievement. We don't have those anymore. I applaud his hard work in getting chewing tobacco out of the minor leagues and hope others can finish what he started in the bigs.

That is the great Joe Garagiola looking out from the clubhouse window at the Polo Grounds.

Rest in peace.

Look at Scott! He is prancing along with the dog! Man, I tell you something, if you live in my neighborhood and you're dressed like that, you'd better be a hotel doorman
