No reason to root against the guy, probably another AAAA guy, but would be a great story to add to the season.

If Baez falls flat on his face, Murton has a chance (slight) to make the team as an extra outfielder. But it's much more likely he will be a depth piece down at AAA, staying ready in case of an injury. If he makes the team, it will be a bad thing. It will mean others failed to perform or got injured. Murton was a decent player in his past stay with the Cubs and easy to root for, but the days of rooting for the underdog players who are short on talent are over. It's a legitimate, talented roster now. One that likely will not have room for Murton.

I think you can still call him an underdog and not likely to make the team, but will hit above .300 in AAA and will get 2 weeks worth of AB when Soler twists an ankle.

I applaude the guy. Play until they wont let you. Its the Captain Kirk plan!

Absolutely. But anyone that thinks he is coming North with the team (unless there is an injury) is crazy. Matt Murton's beard can celebrate the signing, but it is likely to be a while before you get to see him take another turn at the dish at the major league level. That said, in the first month of the season (cold) he might produce better than Soler, if given the chance.
