In all my years of reading this guy it seems like every bear management team (gm + coach) is made up of really smart guys who know what they are doing. The lone exception was last year when by the end of the year he didn't have a choice (although I think he is still defending mel tucker). Compare his views with the franchise record and the disparity between his writing and reality is clear.
Does he do this because he's dumb? No, it's all about access to power. He simply cherry picks his "sources" so that they always agree with bears management and so when he reports something he looks smart while keeping his content suppliers happy. All in all a typical modern "journalist" more concerned with being pals with the rich and powerful than providing balanced useful information.

I put this in the same category of getting a player's post-game comments. The "pro" responses are vacuous and by rote, the honest responses can get some people in a real tizzy as they try to parse what exactly is being said. We want them to talk about the game but not talk about anything specific, and when those players do have something to say they have management to worry about and the public at large because they aren't the speaking as statesmen.

Biggs is good for basic team information but beyond that the media always treats the front office as being "Chicago shrewd." Remember, when it comes to the Bears this is the same braintrust that fired a 10-6 coach and replaced him with the "attorney."

Denied. Biggs will criticize when warranted or when he has a differing opinion of what MGMT is saying.

He certainly is no ZZ.

Biggs is nowhere near the ass-lickery of ZZ.

He seems to be well liked by the Bears org and the players, but I have heard him keep it real and offer valid criticism.

I dont think Bigzy is your next Larry Mayer, but I am sure he picks and chooses the info he allows out, just like any other beat reporter. They need to maintain relationships and keep sources for their jobs. I think he is with a group of reporters the Bears tolerate, as I dont think they like any reporters. Looooonnnnnggg History of that in Halas Hall.

ZZ is the complete kiss up, but still isnt as bad as the Bulls own KC Hoops. Thats about as close as one can be to a company man for any team.
