If he can't be coached up there it isn't going to happen... if he was an UDFA he'd have been out of football 3 years ago... but being pick #22 gets you apparently several chances

Bernstein read an e-mail yesterday that stated on Feb 8, online oddsmaker Bovada had the Bears at 40-1 to win next year's SB. And now, after their various moves, their odds are 50-1.

As if an 'oddsmaker' is needed to tell everyone the Bears won't win the Super Bowl next year.

Certainly not, but his point was that the flurry of moves that Pace and Company made over the off season had actually made them worse.

I understood his point, but my point is that his 'opinion' of the Bears moves doesn't matter as far as what will actually happen on the field.

It's no different than anyone on this board giving their opinions on the Bears moves -outside of money being involved.

I agree that the Bears have gotten worse. Trevathan was a nice addition but they still dont have a secondary, DL and half their LB's still suck. Meanwhile they lost two of their 3 best offensive weapons. Free agency passed the Bears by.

This changes everything!

The Bears have tapped into their pipeline to the Denver Broncos once again.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bears have signed former Broncos and Detroit Lions offensive lineman Manny Ramirez to a one-year deal.

The 33-year-old Ramirez played four seasons with the Broncos (2011-14) under current Bears head coach John Fox and offensive line coach Dave Magazu. He started 43 games during his time in Denver, including Super Bowl XLVIII.

Ramirez was originally selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Texas Tech. He played with the Lions from 2007-10 and returned for a second stint in Detroit last season. He played in all 16 games (seven starts) with the Lions in 2015.

Ramirez is expected to provide depth on the Bears offensive line and be competition for second-year center Hroniss Grasu.

Say what you want about the new Bear's brass so far but they are serious about depth building. By that I mean they give no shits about offending people on the current roster when they bring people in.

Makes me worried that Grassu isn't going to cut it.

I’d have to agree with PittMike on depth building. What I like about Pace so far is they’ve ignored public perception / reaction and removed a lot of noise from the roster. He’s also stockpiling picks….which isn’t a bad thing either.

I’m hoping they invest heavily in the lines on both sides of the ball. It appears that’s what Pace is doing. They have a good QB in place, but it’s clear he needs help around him. No playoffs but I do think they’ll be better.

My biggest wildcard is Mr. Hairline fracture. He has to be a stud, otherwise he made an unrecoverable mistake. You can’t fail on a #7 overall pick.

The Seahawks picked mega-bust Aaron Curry #3 overall in 2009 and OK-I-guess-but-not-#6-overall-good Russell Okung #6 in 2010. They won it all in 2013. You can fail on high picks if the rest is good.
