Yes. It is good. 4 game series, Drabek won't pitch tomorrow. Would love to see some pitches put on the bullpen tomorrow night.
Certainly makes games 3 and 4 easier with a tired bullpen.

4/8/16
De La Rosa 70 (40)
Barrett 20 (9)
Drabek 52 (24)
Chafin 19 (9)
Delgado 34 (18)

I bet they lead the NL in walks and runs, possibly the MLB best as well. Its going to be a fun season.

B&B mentioned this yesterday. Something about leading the league in walks AND strikeouts. Like that is a great thing.

This Cubs offense is like the prolific 2016 Cubs offense. Goddamn historic.

If the result of such is this many runs per game, it is a great thing.

Agreed but you know this has to go back to averages over the season. If not, then we truly are seeing the 27 Yankees.

Yesterday's 14 runs were put on the board not by waiting for Rubby to implode but by attacking his weak shit.

Certainly they are not going to average double digit run scoring. But they seem set to be a top run scorer. On paper the line-up looks strong. And in what we have seen so far, they have a pretty potent line-up.

It's exciting to imagine what will happen when they are at home on warm summer days. I can't wait to get out to Wrigley. Mike, any chance you want to join us in Atlanta this year...going in June?

GD, let's just hope both Chicago teams are really good this year as the early results seem to show. It would be a heck of lot more fun to argue something other than who is the tallest midget.

Rizzo vs. Abreu, Arrieta vs. Sale, Lester vs. Quintana, Bryant vs Frazier....etc, etc.

Dunno, but I was simply talking about the way the ball carries in the summer as the wind tends to blow out at Wrigley.

I would love to but unlikely. June will be my remaining daughter's HS graduation and possibly a trip to Chicago. July going to LA. An Atlanta Vegas thing would be what the doctor ordered though.

Let me know if you come to Chicago. I am sure JORR could hook us up at Wrigley and beyond. He lives there.

The Mexican place (and subsequent margaritas) JORR took us to damn near killed me. I ended up passed out in my car at the Cumberland parking lot in my car until I was sober enough to drive home. My wife was like, how were you out until 3:00 in the morning? Well honey, I took a long nap in my car.....

While a different time (1927) as pitchers threw on fewer days rest/longer innings, Babe Ruth was also known for many strike outs during his career. I believe the thinking is that whichever way is effective in getting to the relievers today will justify the means of getting there. If teams have suspect relievers or in the case of the current series the pitchers can get worn down then the strikeouts are acceptable. High strike outs seem bad, but if they are extending pitch counts and getting to relievers earlier then in the end they're not a big deal

Seeing a lot of pitches and working the count is huge. Pitchers love it when hitters take a Starlin Castro approach and are swinging at everything, whether it is in the dirt or not. Hitters that refuse to get themselves out by swinging at crap they can do little with, are tougher to get out. They tend to get ahead in the count and therefore wind up in predictable counts, where the hitter can reasonably expect a fastball and buggy-whip that pitch into a gap or over the fence. Plus a pitcher who has thrown 25, 30 or more pitches already in an inning, is not as sharp as one who has thrown a handful. The guys they brought in, Heyward and Zobrist are both guys who work the count and see a lot of pitches, so this is a trend I believe will not change.

I'm fairly sure pitchers don't love pitching against the guy with the highest OPS in Major League Baseball.

Of course. But you know it's not sustainable. Do you really think they're going to average 10 runs a game?

Then how can it be that the most successful team over the past two seasons doesn't do that?

Nope....they'll be lucky to average five. Still, they are going to be in the upper tier of run scoring teams. I LOVE THE PLAN.

Maybe they can score 900 runs. They look strong so far and some of their guys aren't even hitting.

Not only do they walk a ton, but it seems many of the walks come after starting out with 0-2 counts (even going back to last year). Must frustrate the hell out of pitchers and managers.
