Certainly they are not going to average double digit run scoring. But they seem set to be a top run scorer. On paper the line-up looks strong. And in what we have seen so far, they have a pretty potent line-up.

It's exciting to imagine what will happen when they are at home on warm summer days. I can't wait to get out to Wrigley. Mike, any chance you want to join us in Atlanta this year...going in June?

While a different time (1927) as pitchers threw on fewer days rest/longer innings, Babe Ruth was also known for many strike outs during his career. I believe the thinking is that whichever way is effective in getting to the relievers today will justify the means of getting there. If teams have suspect relievers or in the case of the current series the pitchers can get worn down then the strikeouts are acceptable. High strike outs seem bad, but if they are extending pitch counts and getting to relievers earlier then in the end they're not a big deal

Seeing a lot of pitches and working the count is huge. Pitchers love it when hitters take a Starlin Castro approach and are swinging at everything, whether it is in the dirt or not. Hitters that refuse to get themselves out by swinging at crap they can do little with, are tougher to get out. They tend to get ahead in the count and therefore wind up in predictable counts, where the hitter can reasonably expect a fastball and buggy-whip that pitch into a gap or over the fence. Plus a pitcher who has thrown 25, 30 or more pitches already in an inning, is not as sharp as one who has thrown a handful. The guys they brought in, Heyward and Zobrist are both guys who work the count and see a lot of pitches, so this is a trend I believe will not change.

Not only do they walk a ton, but it seems many of the walks come after starting out with 0-2 counts (even going back to last year). Must frustrate the hell out of pitchers and managers.
