Someone check on Dolphin. He might be swallowing a sock or something.

Looking at the slow mo, Fowler wasn't going to get near that ball. Schwarber was certainly in a better position to get there.

It was a great gamble that worked out. I'd say it was pretty heads up. Catcher is laying on his back and isn't known for his arm.

Completely unnecessary risk. Even with everything going perfectly for him he was going to be out. I guess he factored in a wild throw and the middle infield kicking the ball around.

sure it did

You didn't see me saying the great Rubby de la Rosa was going to hold it down for the win.

I'm sorry me laying down truth upsets Cub fans.

It was a smart heads-up base running move, That's a long ass throw to second from your ass or on a knee.. If Rizzo had Eaton's speed he'd have 50 stolen bases a year. In Short, Rizzo = smart ... Eaton = dumb.

He was not going to be out unless it was a perfect throw, by a guy laying on his back to begin with, and good tag. That's a long shot for any catcher.

The throw beat him.

I would say that the much smarter option is not to potentially give up outs by running wildly around the bases but by beating up on a struggling pitcher.

I prefer they put pressure on the defense. I also would have sent the runner from third with one out on the ground ball later in the inning.

No the throw didnt beat him. His leg hit the bag first and the throw was wide. Even if the throw was caught Rizzo is safe.

Castillo literally didnt even know he was running. And with the runner at third and counting that into the risk/reward it was a great gamble.

Rizzo would of been safe. It was a great play.

Don't like our chances tonight. The 2nd half by Hammel last season has permanently scarred me.

Again, the base running by Rizzo was heads-up. Sox fans so rarely see good base running they don't recognize it.

Hammel was very good in the first half of each of the last 2 seasons. If that trend continues, he should do well tonight. Plus Hammel is in his walk year, so he has extra motivation to have a good season. A chance at a ring and a big contract with someone. I like their chances against Robbie Ray tonight.

No it didn't but the echo chamber of Cub fandom has spoken. It was clearly a great gamble in a tight ball game with a pitcher who wasn't going to give up runs.

With Robbie Ray being a lefty, I expect Soler to be in LF tonight. But less certain is who will catch for Hammel. Schwarber had become his personal catcher and with Kyle out, it will be interesting to see whether they go with Ross against the lefty, or Montero? I'm going to guess Ross, based on the fact he had a good spring and Montero went 0-6 last night.

Dolphin just needs to take the L on this one and find a new topic to troll.

The throw beat him? Dude, Rizzo was running to second, not center.

If we win today it will piss me off that we lost yesterday. Had that game but when the Cubs didn't score in that first and third no out situation I felt like the DBacks were going to win.

Need the bottom of this rotation to keep the Cubs in games. Very glad I didn't see last night's game.
