So just to summarize.

You brought up cross burning.

Hatchet posted a link to cross burning done at Catholic churches two pages ago.

You aren't concerned about bigotry toward catholics.

You are nothing if not consistent.

Just to summarize... I've asked you for an example of bigotry you've experienced as a result of your catholicism. Would you please tell me?

So to wrap this up and put a bow on it.

You aren't interested in a bigotry toward catholics past or present, but as a Catholic, I'm supposed to have a conversation with you about something you have clearly stated you have no interest in.

Do you even read what you type before you hit submit?

looking at a photo here of my great grandmother Bridget McNulty talking to my dad around 1940. She came over from County Mayo in 1885 at age about 18. She died around 1960.

I didn't say I was not interested in it. I said it wasn't concerned about it
That's because I have been searching and asking for examples of anti catholic discrimination and no one can give me any. I'm forced to think that it's existence is so meager that it is to be considered insignificant.
Did you read what I wrote? Because again... never said I wasn't interested.
In fact... someone uninterested would not have asked the same question 10 times.
I know you do not answer because you cannot. You're being so evasive because to your credit you will not lie and make up an incident. The only way you can answer it without lying is to work evasive.
I know what you're doing and why.

Catholics are constantly discriminated against; gays are the ones who have it made.

Ok. I know Seacrest literally cannot answer the question without lying as he has never really experienced this anti catholic wave of discrimination that has been washing over the world.

So back to the point of this thread. Fuck mississippi. Bigoted assholes. Congrats on being last in pretty much everything.

It is pretty amazing to see two people talking about discrimination against Catholics who also seemingly(though they won't come out and say it) support a bill that is literally designed for discrimination.

If you don't care about gay people being discriminated against why should anyone care about our people getting discriminated against?

Name calling and sarcasm.

The last vestige of the bigot.

Off to the home opener.

I'm going to start conversations with "I have no concern for you". I'll report back later unless I end up in a hospital.

It should have been obvious that I would not have supported such a bill and I asserted the pope likely wouldn't either although he hasn't made his thoughts known about it.

what is really amazing is you have two guys in this thread implicating catholics to blame for something they had nothing to do with. then brushing off a long history of ant-catholicism in this country as insignificant. and then claiming THEY are not bigoted!

You're a good man, Seacrest. It would have been much easier to lie than to keep evading like you did here. I'm proud of you. It's better to evade than lie to you and your principles. Its admirable. Again, you're a good man.

It was not. You spent a long time talking about "how do you reconcile the sanctity of human free will with the government forcing you to do things." and then asked all sorts of questions that basically said "Shouldn't this person be able to discriminate based on their religion".

But, thank you for saying that you don't support the bill either. Looks like we both agree!

no you want the pope to make some sort of detailed pronouncement of how US laws should be. I pointed out why he is not going to do that. there are certain "gray areas" as you called them that he is not going to get tangled in.

If you're saying I am implicating catholics in this law, you could not be further from the truth. Never once did I say they did it, not did I lay any blame at their feet. The only time I mentioned them myself was to say that I was raised catholic, in an effort to add context to my claim that organized religion is easily perverted and for generally racist and bigoted views and I have become further and further jaded by religion as a whole as I get older and witness the horrors that the religious (even a small percentage) wage on those whose views do not coincide with their own.

This law is not about religious liberty. You're free to practice any religion you want. No one ever said you could not.

Just like free speech. You have a right to free speech. You don't have a right to not have consequences for the things you say.

You have a right to freely practice your religion. You don't have a right to not have sanctions for breaking the laws (ie equal rights under the law, denial of services so on) as a result of freely practicing that religion... until this state made it legal to engage in bigotry.

What do you think of this:

Everyone has a right to tolerance.
Nobody has a right to acceptance.

It's interesting. Close I guess. I'd personally prefer something stronger than tolerance.

You don't think the Pope would support this law but he also would support it in certain "gray areas".

I get what he's saying. I don't think he's claiming the pope would support the law. I agree, he wouldn't (and shouldn't) get involved in low level US politics.

I'd accept that if he hadn't done a tour here where he did exactly that with one of his primary messages being about "religious liberty" where he went as far as meeting with the birth control nuns and the gay hating city clerk.

This new Pope has almost always fallen on the side of "the religious rights of the offended are more important than the religious rights of the offender".

i agree that meeting with the nutty clerk was odd. he should have just said, hey, can't we meet the law's obligation somehow without forcing this woman to go against what she believes is morally imperative?

I don't think giving moral support to nuns who don't want to give out birth control is really all that extremist.

Once again, he spent a ton of time talking about "religious liberty". It is more than fair to think "religious liberty" would be not baking a cake for gay people.

he's been working on the broader concept of religious liberty for years (see today's 250 page paper he wrote). you think he did that in response to somebody in Indiana refusing to make a cake?
