That knee injury is going to prevent him from catching for the next couple of years. His play in the outfield is apparent to everyone but Steve. Also many of you seem confident that he is going to be surpassed by others. Where does his career go from here with this team?

Is he going to be surpassed or isn't he. I have heard and read all day that he isn't an important piece and that others are going to easily replace his production. Now I'm treated as foolish for suggesting such a piece should be moved

The Cubs should cut thier losses and deal him.

Even after a devastating knee injury there are AL teams with holes at DH who would throw together some talent for him. Nothing like what the Cubs would've got this offseason, but something. Would you be OK if the White Sox traded Carson Fulmer (had a rough outing yesterday night) for him? Maybe not that far, but RIGHT NOW after the injury if the Cubs would take Danish and E Johnson for him I'd probably make that deal.

But Theo is not going to suffer that kind of bruise to his ego. No way he acknowledges the mistake he made not dealing Schwarber this offseason for serious major league starting pitcher. Schwarber is going to whither on the Cubs until 2019, then he'll sign on to an AL team as a bargain bin pickup. He's on the Kendrys Morales career path.

It would have been a great move to ship Baez and Schwarber to the al for a pitcher. Instead Schwarber is hurt, Baez is going to get exposed as his replacement and they had to throw 30+ million on lackey

Abc 7 had a report on Schwarber near the front of its newscast. They spent several minutes with interviews from doctors and men on the street. I listened to the radio talk about it all day...but somehow I'm the guy dwelling on this injury and its impact

There's almost no chance that the Cubs get rid of young Schwarbs...at least not when his value is virtually nil. Why would they trade him away for a bag of balls?

Honestly with a guy like him i think his locker room presence is a factor. Madden might keep him around just to help the team gel. But if hes not someone the team rallys for than just dump him cause his talents are in dh land.

No, this is not the end of his career as a Cub. He wasn't an all-star last year by any means, but he was productive as a hitter. Just my perception, but Cub fandom and even the media in general associated with him because he's "baseball sexy". The big, Babe Ruth-looking type. We love our gladiators and he fits in with guys like Trout just from a stature perspective. I'm not sure he would have been able to start hitting lefties with consistency. He might have. He still may when he gets back. I'm not sure he would have become a better left fielder or catcher. He may when he gets back. I think you give him at least another 2-4 years to see how he progresses.
