I thought about this too. Unless Arrieta/Rizzo/Bryant get hurt too I think they'll be fine. Plenty of pieces to make trades with. The window for that team was small.

the narrative is too close to that year for comfort. including coming off a surprising year where they went to the NLCS. it's chilling.

i hope i'm wrong...but i'm already concerned.

You were expecting to run the table or something? Cubs are fine.

They could lose two more Babe Ruths and still cakewalk to the division title.

i wasn't expecting anything. i was hoping to not have to see one of the big players go down for the year, you know, in the first week of the season.

Why is so much importance put on Schwarber?

He opened his career extremely strongly, but was relatively unimportant during the Cubs' best stretch of the season last year (September)

He was good in the playoffs but not even the best player on the team in the playoffs.

He was being asked to play a position he isn't well suited for and there was going to be games he would cost the team defensively.

As someone else said yesterday...he was MAYBE the eighth most important piece on the team.

He is a good player. But he isn't Rizzo, Arrieta, Bryant, Russell, Lester, Fowler, Heyward or Montero.

He won't be a conversation piece by May. He will miss the team more than the team will miss him.

Because it's an opportunity to shit on the Cubs.

IMU and I agree on most things Cubs related but his disrespect of Babe Schwarber is where we part ways. The Cubs will definitely miss him. He was going to take a leap forward this year. Fowler and Lackey should be murdered.

Schwarber hit home runs at a pace surpassed by only one person in the nl last year. The Cubs scored two more runs per game over almost half a season with him. Neither Baez, soler or Almoravid has even hinted at the kind of production Schwarber has shown.

It is disingenuous or ignorant to dismiss the impact of this injury

The Cubs scored 29 runs in Schwarber's 3 games this year.

He had 0 hits.

Shouldn't you be dancing some sort of southside Polish jig in honor of this season ending Cub injury?

When did it matter?

Did they make a World Series that I missed?

I'm not from the south side and I'm not celebrating a person being hurt. I'm simply confounded by statements I have heard today by fans and the "unbiased" media

I heard from some that Schwarber would lead the nl in home runs this year. I have now heard that he is the most replaceable member of this cub team...but I'm the guy running in circles
