I am in the 500 section so I'm sure no one would be up near me and I probably wouldn't acknowledge you anyway. Still, I'd like to know you are there

They'll have you in the lower bowl buy the bottom of the 2nd so it looks fuller.

It was snowing all morning, and it is supposed to rain. I keep looking to see if it is going to be canceled. Worst weather day in years. Didn't want to take time off to sit in this.

I will go either tomorrow or Sunday though.

Bacardi at the Park has been closed since the end of the 2013 season.
it is now called ChiSox Bar & Grill.

About 5 or 6yrs ago, I remember we were snowed out, and the game was changed to the next day.

The weather seems likes it is going to be legendarily bad, even for opening day.

Even though it's shitty weather, they'll still have 35k or so. 38,000 is capacity. I mean it's sold out cuz opening day is always sold out. But I say only 3,000 will be no shows. Cuz opening day is something people plan for and they've already taken the day off. So, what the hell? Today would be considered great for a Bears game and they get 62k every game.

Now, tomorrow will be 2,000 at the park.

You guys joke, but you do realize the Sox always sell out opening day, right?

Just a matter of the no shows. Which won't be much cuz, like I said, people plan for this day.

Yes, that's terrific.

Way to ruin my Jimmy Duggan reference

I think there might be more no shows than that with this truly terrible weather. If it was a monday, Id be with you. On friday, people can just start their weekend early.

Grabbed some last minute cheap upper deck seats on stubhub. Stuck around for about 6 innings yesterday. It was brutal.

LOL

Thus Bacardi stopped the sponsorship the first year of State of Illinois Tax payer Bar & Grill.

State paid for every plate, picture, glass and napkin in the place and every nickel of revenue goes to the Sox.

The Gibson Group never should have fired the manager, Tommy Dore.

I don't know about that. I organized an event there when it was Bacardi at their Park. It appeared to go quite well. They made a nice piece of change off the event. It was conducted during the off season no less.

I attempted to come back the following year and was told by Jessica their event planner and Dore that they don't allow private parties any more. I happened to pass through about a week after being declined and saw that they were closed due to the hosting of Someone's Bar Mitzvah.

Its just White Sox Organization. Everything is done in such a bubble.

Why not build a White Sox Tailgate Center? Bathrooms...more areas, covered area for when it rains...and yes, SELL things such as ice, basic condiments, drinks, etc. Use the area to promote products, sponsors, etc. You can rent out grills, benches, tables, oversized parking.

To be clear, I am not in favor of them contiuing to waste State of Illinois money, but as long as it is coming in anyways, why not build something that actually compliments what many of your fans enjoy about going to the games (TAILGATE) instead of battling them.

It is actually a REAL TRADITION that they do so little to support.

I understand they want people in the park and not outside drinking, but when you allow people to start drinking 4 hours before a game and then 2 hours after a game, whats the difference if they go inside or not during the game? and if I walk in and walk out, did I "go" to the game?

The tailgating is self sustaining, I dont see what the team could do to improve it. I dont want Southpaw showing up to hang out with my friends and me.

If all of your glassware and furniture are paid for by the state, it's kind of hard not to make money.

Next time I see Tommy, I'll try and remember to ask him what the policies were at the end of his time there.
