I'd rather a major league pitcher learn to throw to bases and hold runners like a major leaguer. Call me kooky, but I don't think it's too much to expect.

Arrieta fielded multiple balls last night and underhanded every single routine ground ball to first base.

I don't recall Elmhurst Steve speaking up last night.

I think you're right.

Of course I am. Why would you doubt me? How is that family of foxes or whatever was in your yard like a year ago.

He throws with authority to bases and holds runners well. On a ball hit up the first base line, it makes some sense, just like a middle infielder feeding a ball to 2nd base when he is close to the bag. Otherwise, it's just embarrassing and lame.

He's tried to learn. You really believe he hasn't practiced it? He can't do it. It's a mental thing with him. It is what it is. You take the outs when he has the time to underhand it. There will be other times he won't have time. You'll wish he did once you see the results.

Pitching out of the stretch has Finnegan decidedly less effective.

They made him work a lot more that inning. Lots of pitches in the 3rd at least. Hopefully the heart of the order gets to Finnegan the 2nd time around the order in the 4th inning.

This game is pissing me off. Those were some really nice pitches to Fowler though.

What the Cubs have dealt with in the early innings though is so frustrating. Hit the ball hard but right at someone or they make a great diving catch. This is how I feel when I play The Show lately as I smoke line drives at some fuckin Puerto Rican kid and he beats me 3-2 on bullshit and thinks he's good. Let me just say that hate mailing a child who miracously beat you in a video game is very therapeutic.

These are the kind of games where Lester kills me. When your team is struggling to hit you need to match the other pitcher. Right now he's getting out pitched by a guy thats not supposed to be as good as him. He's turning into Jose Quintana at 22 million a year.

I am very happy that Lester is comfortable this year

They signed Lester because they had to at that juncture. Big Splash. In hindsight they would not have done it. They will live with it and learn from the experience. Edwin Jackson over again but not near as shitty.
