Im 88% sure it was Drinky, if it was someone else, this goes to them

Im listening to the 2nd inning of the Cubs game and they're doing the guess the attendance thing. Hughes gives his number

Hughes: Im going to go 41,834

Coomer: Im going to with 42 even.

Hughes: Alright 42 even. 1-1 to Hamilton.

Drinky: Hey isnt Ron's guess too close under the Grote rule? Isnt he within 50 of mine?

Coomer: No, its not

Hughes: No, its within 386 of yours. But thanks for asking.

Drinky: Oh, I guess I misheard, or Im bad at math

Hughes(unfazed like the pro that he is): Lester looks in for the sign

Listen Drinky, this isnt the fucking B and B show. Pat Hughes is out there conducting a vocal baseball themed symphony and he doesnt need your bullshit drop ins like B and B. Its bad enough he has to have Coomer there at all, he definitely doesn't need your SCHTICK. Just stay out of his way and speak when spoken to.

Why is that dumbfuck in the booth anyway? Is this part of the integration of the Cubs broadcast with Jackass Radio?

I heard that last night as well, guys.

If I'm not mistaken, I think that was Mark Grote that they were bantering with not Matt Abbatacola.

Also, Pat & Ron let Grote chime in often with scores of different games, etc.

Mark Grote has been in the radio booth since last year.

Well then that asshole referred to himself in the third person because he quoted the "Grote Rule"

Yea, but it sounded like Drinky and with him saying "The Grote rule" and them being on the Score and it being such a DRINKY thing to say, I figured Drinky is producing for them or something.

Anyway, it made me think of Beardown. I should have known it wasnt Drinky. If it was there would be a thread already.

To be honest...it would be hard for me to hear a voice and know it was Abbatacola. Only heard him a few times. And I didn't listen to radio last night but Grote is mostly fine. Sometimes annoying. I'd be happy with Masur back.

I wouldn't think drinky would ever be invited in the booth as a guest. They certainly wouldn't let him play the attendance game. So it had to be Grote. I didn't hear it but Grote was allowed to talk to them some last year when I would listen.

He does. But he'll also give MLB score updates during the game and have a little banter with Pat and Ron.

Grote is on often with Pat & Ron during the innings.

I'm pretty sure that was Grote poking fun at himself with "The Grote Rule" comment.

They usually do a trivia segment sometime during the broadcast and Grote is always included.

Well, now that RPB changed the thread title

Do you think Pat Hughes hates B&B for the years that they made fun of Ron Santo? I do.

Probably.

We're too far in the forest here. I remember before I was a SCORE listener just hearing about the two guys on the radio that would specifically make fun of Santo's missing legs and like most normal people I thought "sound like a couple of assholes"

Im sure Hughes has some contempt for them.

I like Grote in general but he doesn't fit well with Pat at all during the times I've listened. They don't seem to mesh very well. Pat seems annoyed with him a lot of times and doesn't seem to get Grotes humor.

You think any of the Score guys will be invited to do the 7th inning stretch? Cuz the WGN 720 people would do it every now and then when they had the rights?

Bernstein strikes me as somebody who would decline if offered. Boers would as well simply because he wouldn't want to make the drive to the park.

Mully and Hanley would do it.

So would Goff and Spiegel. And Goff would really pimp it up

Goff: I love what they've done to this old crib!!!! Alright, we gonna do this motha fuckas? A one...a two...a three...

Pat Hughes:

He chimes in constantly. He also sits with Coomer when Hughes is away.

They better hurry and order the 6XL jersey for Grimace. Those are special order and take a while to get.

I don't know what would offend Pat more, that Dan said his friend was a mean drunk who deserved to die or that he wasn't as good at calling a baseball game as Ed Farmer.

Friends, the giveaways here at the ballpark are more than serviceable. I believe every Thursday is going to be T shirt night, right Darrin?

Bases were loaded with 1 out and Twins trying to come back from a 3-1 defecit at that point

Yeah. I do recall Bernstein saying he didn't like Pat's style as a broadcaster. But now the Score has the Cubs so Farmer sucks and Hughes is the best according to Bernstein.

Not that anybody would ask Pat what he thought about the way B&B crucified Ron Santo for years, but if somebody did he would say he wasn't aware. But he was aware obviously.

Drinky was brutal on Santo too. Cuz he follows Bernstein's lead knowing he gets to hide behind B&B always. Same with drinky adopting his own war on Hawk. Cuz B&B make it safe for him.

While B&B have their 500k jobs at the SCORE, I think drinky's vulgar behavior has hurt him. Not just in advancing at the SCORE, but getting a better media gig anywhere in this city. I know it's fun for drinky to make fun of Santo and call Hawk a sexist, but shit like that hurts him and he's really not aware.

He would do it and bring his kid with him and use the kid as an excuse as to why he participated in a "tradition" he has mocked for years. Then when he saw Billy Williams down the row in his comped seat he would wet his pants.

"I mean look. I'd, uh, love to do this little song and dance, because there is nothing I have ever wanted more in my life than, ah, to follow in the great footsteps of a, um, of a Mike Ditka and the Lake Park High School volleyball team, but I mean, honestly, what this really is to me, really, is that, I mean, you're asking me? Me? I'm weird! And, ah, I mean, I liked Harry Caray, and this whole singing the stretch was a White Sox tradition before it was a Cubs tradition, I'll have you know, but look, for you to ask a guy like me, uh, uh, I mean, me, I'm...there's no way! Look, what am I supposed to do when I get to the part about taking me out to the crowd? I just want to be taken away from crowds! My whole life is a fight against being taken out to the crowd. There are too many of them and they're weird and they smell. And I'm weird and I smell, so I mean, really, I do enough of that for a whole crowd. I don't want the crowd. When I die, which I have scheduled for next August, I believe, I don't even want to be buried in a cemetery, because even my corpse doesn't feel safe around all those other corpses. Talk about smelling. So if you really want someone to get up there and sing this song, then don't look at me, and really, I mean, don't look at me under any circumstance, because I probably don't like you, but look to my partner, who would love to do our station proud and sing the stretch, so FOTS, because more than ever you are our FOTS, what do you say."

"Is it sponsored?"
