1) The 1.5 cents/mile isn't horrific in lieu of a gas tax, although it does discourage people from getting higher-MPG vehicles. But is it going to be in lieu of a gas tax, or in addition to a gas tax.
2) Oregon is doing a test of this approach, but it's completely voluntary. Also at 1.5/mile. If you volunteer, you get a rebate on your gas purchases, although i don't know how they track that. My understanding is that they're focused more on collecting usage data than trying to make money.
3) USDOT has been talking about this scenario for almost a decade. But only Illinois would be this ham-handed about trying to roll it out.
1) They are giving you a gas "refund" at the end of the year. Have fun saving ALL your gas receipts every time you fill up at the gas station.
2) They want to put devices in our cars to track how far we drive. This bill also raises the cost of licenses plates and stickers for our cars.
3) Who is covering the cost of implementing this program? The taxpayers

FKing Democrats. But , yeah keep voting for them every election cycle. Waiting for a tax on the air I breath in IL. I read somewhere that they are thinking about taxing us on how many times we use the toilet. Not a joke.

Wasting water you know.
At least they will finally get rid of the fancy new toll system they implemented and promised to eliminate years ago... oh wait, no that is going up as well.
