What a fucking prick. You know what affects the quality of a democracy more than "extreme doubt"? Censorship and imprisoning people who disagree with you.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... climate-c/

Quote:
Bill Nye “the science guy” says in a video interview released Thursday that he is open to the idea of jailing those who deviate from the climate change consensus.

Asked about the heated rhetoric surrounding the climate change debate, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s previous comments that some climate skeptics should be prosecuted as war criminals, Mr. Nye replied, “We’ll see what happens.”

“Was it appropriate to jail the guys from Enron?” Mr. Nye asked in a video interview with Climate Depot’s Marc Morano. “We’ll see what happens. Was it appropriate to jail people from the cigarette industry who insisted that this addictive product was not addictive, and so on?”

“In these cases, for me, as a taxpayer and voter, the introduction of this extreme doubt about climate change is affecting my quality of life as a public citizen,” Mr. Nye said. “So I can see where people are very concerned about this, and they’re pursuing criminal investigations as well as engaging in discussions like this.”

Mr. Nye’s comments come with a coalition of liberal attorneys general pursuing companies that challenge the consensus of catastrophic climate change. Critics fear the campaign could chill research and free speech.

Virgin Islands Attorney General Claude E. Walker raised concerns about a government crackdown on dissent when he issued a subpoena last week to the free market Competitive Enterprise Institute for its climate-related research and documents.

About the potential for a “chilling effect,” Mr. Nye said, “That there is a chilling effect on scientists who are in extreme doubt about climate change, I think that is good.”

“The extreme doubt about climate change people — without going too far afield here — are leaving the world worse than they found it because they are keeping us from getting to work. They are holding us back,” Mr. Nye said in a post on Climate Depot, a project of the free market, nonprofit Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow.

Mr. Morano interviewed the star of the 1993-98 PBS television show “Bill Nye the Science Guy” in New York in advance of the May 2 theatrical release of “Climate Hustle,” which takes a skeptical look at predictions of climate change disasters.

The film, along with a panel discussion, was scheduled for a screening Thursday in the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.

So far, all the climate change predictions have been wrong. I don't expect this one to be any less wrong.
That said, fuck this fucking fuck. You don't want people to speak their minds, move to North Korea. Major fucking dickhead. Can't stand this speedwalking jerk.

That's a stupid thought.

For shame Bill Nye.

Wait, so Bill Nye speaking his mind makes him a fucking fuck?
It's not like he has any authority to jail anyone.

Him wanting to jail people who disagree with him makes him a fucking fuck. I think he's a piece of shit for wanting to wipe his ass with the constitution but I don't want him in prison. Just north Korea.

Rolling your eyes is childish. Aside from that, what is your point here? Yes, Bill Nye speaking his mind and espousing a very dangerous thought makes him an asshole and a douchebag. Nobody ever claimed he was going to personally be arresting folks, so I don't really understand any part of your post here.

holy shit....... bill is right as fuck. read what he said. understand what he means. tobacco was proven to be dangerous. people deserved to be prosecuted for downplaying it. even if they didnt know it at the time, it was actually dangerous and prosecution was the only way to prevent more deaths.

climate change, on the other hand, EVERYONE FUCKING KNOWS IT. 99% OF SCIENTISTS AGREE. THIS IS FACT. THOSE WHO DOWNPLAY IT ARE NOT SCIENTISTS, THEY ARE EVIL. AND STUPID, BUT STUPID AND EVIL GO HAND AND HAND.

There's a substantial difference between deliberately deceiving the public about a product that you manufacture and profit off of, and disagreeing with somebody on a political/environmental issue. If you can't see the difference between the two, you cannot be helped.

Climate change is real. Whether it's man made is debateable. As I've said before... several hundred years ago there was a scientific consensus that the earth was the center of the solar system. That did not make it true. Less than 100 years ago there was a scientific consensus that the milky way was the only galaxy. That didn't make it true. 80 years ago there was a scientific consensus that Andromeda was a nebula within our galaxy. That did not make it true.

The Catholic Church also jailed someone who dared publish opinions that challenged the scientific consensus when they exiled Galileo. They were wrong.

Prisons are for people who commit crimes. Not for people who disagree with the establishment.

scientific discovery is exponential. we know more in the last 50 years than we have in the last 2000, so your point is female.

No. In 10 years we'll know exponentially more than we do now.
What we know now is the predictions from the global warming community from 98 on 06 did not happen.
Hurricanes didn't increase in strength or frequency.
Islands didn't disappear.
We still get snow.
Ice caps are not gone.

Again... I know climate changes. It has always changes. It always has. It will continue to.

Just to be clear, I was only pointing out people here frying Nye for his freedom speech under the guise of him being an anti-free speech fucking fuck. I don't know jack shit about climate change. I don't give a shit, I won't be around when the proverbial shit hits the fan......

I don't understand the analogy you're trying to make. We are calling Bill Nye a fucking fuck for saying people should be jailed for denying climate change. We aren't saying he shouldn't be allowed to say it. I think Darkside and I are in agreement that Bill Nye should be allowed to call us fucking fucks if he disagreed on climate change with us. Do you not understand the difference between criticizing someone for an opposing opinion and saying they should be jailed for an opposing opinion?

All the "scientific discovery" says is that humans have been responsible for some global warming. Global warming alarmists and their allies in the liberal media have been caught doctoring the results saying there is a 97-percent scientific consensus regarding human-caused global warming.

The question surveyed was simply whether humans have caused some global warming. The question is meaningless regarding the global warming debate because most skeptics as well as most alarmists believe humans have caused some global warming. The issue of contention dividing alarmists and skeptics is whether humans are causing global warming of such negative severity as to constitute a crisis demanding concerted action. This was not the question surveyed, yet Obama and the liberal media twisted it into end of the world type stuff so they could pass their anti-freedom left wing agenda.

But don't just take my word, take the word of a physicist.

When Popular Technology asked physicist Nicola Scafetta whether Cook and his colleagues accurately classified one of his peer-reviewed papers as supporting the ‘consensus’ position, Scafetta similarly criticized the Skeptical Science classification.

“Cook et al. (2013) is based on a straw man argument because it does not correctly define the IPCC AGW theory, which is NOT that human emissions have contributed 50%+ of the global warming since 1900 but that almost 90-100% of the observed global warming was induced by human emission,” Scafetta responded. “What my papers say is that the IPCC [United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] view is erroneous because about 40-70% of the global warming observed from 1900 to 2000 was induced by the sun.

“What it is observed right now is utter dishonesty by the IPCC advocates. … They are gradually engaging into a metamorphosis process to save face. … And in this way they will get the credit that they do not merit, and continue in defaming critics like me that actually demonstrated such a fact since 2005/2006,” Scafetta added.

Believe who you want to believe. It is just ignorant to step up on a soapbox, if you don't have all the facts.

there are literally countries going underwater because the oceans are rising as a direct result due to the earth being hotter. the oceans ecosystem is self is under a dramatic and rapid change as a direct result due to the earth being hotter. use all the fancy lingo you want, it doesnt change the ABSOLUTE FUCKING FACT THE EARTH IS ABNORMALLY HEATING, and nearly every scientist on the planet agrees this is a direct result of human activity.

If you've never seen it, the documentary "Merchants of Doubt" gives some interesting insight into the framing of global warming and similar hot button issues in terms of politics and public sentiment. It's free on demand through xfinity if you get Starz. (Note: I suppose you could also read the book it's based on if that's more to your liking. I found the movie more appealing since hearing some of the comments as they were uttered is almost stunning in modern context).
