Meat Loaf sang it......2 out of 3 ain't bad....Arrieta tomorrow should give them a great opportunity to get even and then Lester has to be the tie-breaker on Sunday.

Today was just one of the 50 or more a team is going to drop and at least it doesn't evoke the anguish a 1 run game with many missed opportunities might provide. Sloppy fielding and a well pitched game by the Rockies starter. Turn the page.

I said all off-season that was the move they had to make. I'm content.

He had no business pitching the 8th. As soon as Fowler hit the HR, he should have had a guy up. It would have been plenty of time.

If he'd sent him out in the 9th I'd have had Maddon killed.

I agree with the removal of Arrieta for the 9th inning. But he had thrown exactly 100 pitches before leaving the game, not some ridiculous number, so having him pitch the 8th was fine. It was his 3rd start of the year, not 1st or even 2nd. He's stretched out now and 100 pitches was okay. He certainly showed no signs of fatigue. But removing him after 100 pitches was smart.

Now onto the rubber match of the series. Hopefully Lester pitches more like his first start of the season and less like his last one. Colorado looks like they may be a better team than many (including myself) believed they might be this year. The kid SS, Cargo, Parra ...they have a fairly formidable offensive club. So far, the Cubs have not really been overwhelming their pitching, as might have been expected. Hopefully, today the Cubs wreak havoc on their pitching and wrap up another series. Weather should be great for the hitters today again.

Yeah I was wondering about that too. For a guy who admitted he was tired at the end of last year I figured they wouldn't keep him in games longer than he should be. When he hit for himself in the 8th I was worried Maddon was going to run him out for the 9th and make him throw 115 in a wrapped up April game. Arrieta has set the bar so high for himself that here is at 3-0 with a 1.4 ERA and I personally don't think he's looked all that great yet.

Kinda feels like one of those games where Cubs will do nothing and then explode for 7 runs in an inning.

What an embarrassing throw to first on that bunt.

Good God.
