Terrible.....just terrible and makes me want to destroy my radio.

Love my guy Spiegs, but this is just a copy of the also terrible jingle "Go Cubs Go".....almost a rip off as a matter of fact. I sure hope that Spiegs got a big pile of cash for that. I don't blame him for agreeing to it, but I feel physically ill every time I hear it. The whole thing is completely cringe-worthy, almost as much as the Flea National Anthem.

As a Sox fan, I also root for the Cubs (unless they're playing each other) and listen to their games. I'd rather just hear some generic music playing or maybe buy the rights to some current song with a good riff. I dunno......just BAD! :-x :-x

Hatchet said it had a 'Hand Jive' feel to it ... he's not terribly wrong.

It's a 'song' you'd be embarrassed to put on a kids Barney CD.

I too have only heard the snippet from the bumper(s) ... it's enough to make one's teeth itch ... don't think I could sit through the whole chart, even with liquor on hand.

Speigs spoke about it. I only know this because I had to drive up to Baraboo w/o SiriusXM.

He seemed a bit ashamed by it, saying "sometimes when you try to please everyone you please no one."

Did he then break into a chorus of "Garden Party"?

I could see him saying that. I've heard it about three times, and that's just about as much as I ever want to hear it. It makes every parody song ever done by anyone (including Harry Teinowitz) palatable.

I have a feeling that marketing, branding or imaging came up with a concept and Spiegs did the best he could with it. He had to tow the corporate line I'm guessing.

WOW. Talk about not a ringing endorsement! I have not heard it yet, but now I am curious to see just how bad this is.

The song mentions "The Plan." Say what you will about Steve Goodman, but he didn't sing about monetized tanking.

Does Speigel always sound like a more white and less swaggery version of Michael Buble when he sings? Too croony.

Can't imagine the Whitest Singing Voice You Know fronting any kind of tribute. Maybe Up With People, though.

Not terrible, but no threat to Go Cubs Go. Which I have a feeling was some intent due to 'WGN" being in the song.

The organ solos and guitar solos are a great example of WAYYYY TOO MUCH artistic freedom, because nobody cares for that.

I know Spiegel hates AC DC because the songs are too "simple", ....well this needed to be more simplified and some "honest critique" of the song before they tossed it out might not have been a bad idea.

Its not bad and its not tuening anyone away, but you had the chance to become the new GO CUBS GO anthem and you blew it.

You know what would have been good?

Remake "Hey Hey Holy Mackerel" with a modern twist.

Imagine if someone had a place called BRICKHOUSES, close to Wrigley....

The Steamer on the menu would be SO CLASSIC

It sounds like they had a contest with people submitting their own shitty songs. The judges went "well this one sucks but Speigs did it. So we have a winner"

This fits in with the Score's modus operandi, like the time they narrowed down a talent search to Dan Bernstein's former interns.

Is there a bigger miss in Score history than "Hire a guy because he is a singer and the guy who is coming over used to do parody songs so he could be good for that, and then find out that the parody songs done by the new guy are not bad enough to be funny and not good enough to be good and then the main guy they hired ends up leaving to go be a morning radio dj and the guy they hire for his parody songs writes a real song for the Cubs that is the pinnacle of horrible Cubs songs when multiple horrible Cubs songs already exist"?

Yes. His name is Dan Bernstein. He basically ruined the station. Jiggets and North, McNeil and Boers and Mike Murphy.....the golden age of the Score...much better. Hard to believe how far the station has fallen.

Not even close.

For him making fun of you on the air alone he has been worth it.

Matt sounds like he's not at all confident in the melody line he's singing. Song doesn't get decent till the harmony kicks in and the bass guitar gets more prominent (came here fooaaaa).

It's beyond terrible. They have to make up new words to describe how awful it is. It's pustulaic.

Ironically, the best parts are when Spiegel isn't singing anything.

Heard it yesterday and it's awful. they need to stop using it IMMEDIATELY and try again. I get that they don't want to use anything formerly used at WGN. perhaps they are not even legally allowed to. But that steaming pile of monkey spunk has to go.

So...Brick used to love scat? Sitting under a glass table as chicks took dumps above? How does a story like that make it semi public? Did he always kind of smell like hooker crap?

I heard it for the first and hopefully last time yesterday...I don't get what other people do regarding his singing abilities.
